History

In 2019, the Parliament passed the Environmental Reorganization Act of 2019 which split Department of Environmental Resources into Department of Environmental Protection and FPW. Minister-President Elizabeth McCord nominated Nathan A. Evans, DVM a veterinarian and animal activist to head the newly created department. The Minister-President was again criticized by certain conservative lawmakers for picking a candidates who is activists in the respected fields.

At Evans confirmation hearing he was grilled by conservative members of the Environment, Energy and Agriculture Committee in the House of Lords. They specifically took issue with his past animal-rights activities. Evans defended those activities and "stated that animals have no voice in government and I want to me that voice not just for wildlife but also for the forests and parks they call home".
