Liekele Ykema (born 13 October 1967) is an Alslandic politician and former economist serving as a member of the Euclean Parliament since 2019. Prior to this he served as Premier of Alsland between 30 October, 2011 and 22 January, 2015 and Minister-President of Yndyk between 16 May 2009 and 30 October 2011.
Ykema entered politics in 2009 after he succeeded Hatte Elsinga as Minister-President of Yndyk. Ykema was subsequently appointed Premier of Alsland by the Federal Presidency upon the resignation of his colleague Drewes Brandsma. Shortly following his appointment as Premier Ykema led the Centre Party in the snap 2011 legislative election where the party received the largest amount of votes for an individual party and 36 seats nationwide. Following the election Ykema formed a coalition with the centre-right National Bloc. Ykema became the first Alslandic Premier to serve a full 3 year term without experiencing a vote of no confidence since Rayko Wegner in 1991.
In the 2014 legislative election the Centre Party gained one seat and Ykema was confirmed as Premier by the Folkssenaat for a second term. After an opposition budget was passed in 2014 the National Bloc led by Aarnd Hellinga demanded Ykema's resignation and withdrew from the coalition. After attempts at forming a government with the Progressive Alliance failed Ykema resigned despite having a high approval rating. Ykema was elected to the Euclean Parliament in 2019. In 2022 he announced he would be running for the Euclean Community's Presidency in 2022.
