The Progressive Alliance (Dellish: Progressyf Alliânsje, Weranian: Progressive Allianz, Swathish: Progrvẹrcic Vyncynn, Kirenian: Progressiivne liit) also commonely referred to as the Progressives or the Alliance, is a social-democratic bloc in Alsland. It consists of the Kirenian People's Party (KRP), the Social Democratic Alliance (SDA), the Social Democrats in Delland (SDyD) and the Swathish Socialist Party (SF). The SDA, SDyD and SF are members of the Socialist Alternative for Euclea whilst the KRP is a member of the Alliance for a Federal and Regionalist Euclea.

Historically the Progressive Alliance was the major catch-all bloc of the Alslandic centre-left and has connections to socialist trade unions. It is the largest political alliance of the 'Socialist' pillar of Alslandic society. Since 2011 the Alliance has moved closer towards adopting centrist positions and has a large and influential social liberal wing.

The alliance is one of three political alliances in Alsland with the other being the National Bloc and Together for the Republic. Each bloc is seen as political opponents to each other. Members of the alliance agree not to stand candidates in communities which another member party stands candidates in.

Controversies

Martiland

Throughout most of the alliance's history, it has denied ethnic Kirenians in Martiland proper representation in the alliance, instead from 1958 until 1995 the SDyD ran candidates in Martiland. Members of the SDyD were the most vocal in their opposition to including any Kirenian party in the alliance. Under the leadership of Seine De Haan in 1994 the party condemned the inclusion of the Kirenian People's Party. The SDyD was fined €1.2 Million for promoting hate speech directed at ethnic Kirenians in Martiland by the Alslandic supreme court in 1996. The decision was not appealed but was criticised by various SDyD politicians including newly elected leader Bonne Zijlstra.

In 2004, Premier Martina Scott's new cabinet was criticised for not including any members of the KPP or ethnic Kirenians. The cabinet led to the KPP threatening to withdraw from the Progressive Alliance and withdraw it's support for the government. In the subsequent election the KPP ran a separate list from the rest of the bloc which suffered it's worst election result in history.

Yndyk dispute

The Yndyk dispute refers to a dispute within the Social Democrats in Delland between party officials and the local parties in Yndyk and Middewald who prefer splitting the party in 3. Only 2 leaders of the SDyD were born outside of Delland. The Yndyk branch of the SDyD separated briefly in 2011 over the issue and were subsequently removed from the Alliance. The Alliance threatened to run candidates against the Yndyk Socialists unless it re-joined the SDyD which it did shortly afterwards. In 2022 a report on creating a separate party for Middewald and Yndyk alleged that the new party wouldn't result in any significant benefits for the Alliance.
