Hisrea is an autonomous governing region in south Adula within the country of Zalluabed. Though it is a province of Zalluabed, it has been governed by the Hisrea People's Liberation Front (HPLF), a Sunni-Islamic fundamentalist, militant, and nationalist organization with ties to Al-Fijar, since 2014, and officially designated as an autonomous region since 2021 under the Osea Accords. The capital and largest city is Huad, with other major settlements including Haba, Dueifa, and Afakim. It has been placed under an WEDA-led international economic and political boycott from that time onwards due to HPLF-sponsored terrorist attacks against Albarine. The status of the region was determined through the course of many conflicts, including the Hisrea War, which resulted in human rights abuses and international condemnation.
With around 2.15 million people, an extensive buffer zone along the border renders much land off-limits to Hisreans has an annual population growth rate of 2.91%. Hisrea had suffered shortages of water, medicine and power, a situation exacerbated by blockades. Due to the Albarinean and Zalluabedi border closures, the population is only free to leave or enter the province and import or export goods through Buckingla. Shia Muslims make up the predominant part of the population. Despite the 2021 Accords, the Coalition of Crown Albatross, international human rights organisations, and the majority of governments and legal commentators consider the territory to be still occupied by Zalluabed. Zalluabed maintains indirect external control over Hisrea and over life within it: it controls Hisrea's airspace, as well as five of Hisrea's seven land crossings. Hisrea is largely dependent on Zalluabed for water, electricity, telecommunications, and other utilities, though it has started to lean on Buckingla for more reliance.
