The Shodiax League is the primary football league/system in Hiblund, and easily one of the most popular leagues in Anteria. Despite Hiblund's generally small population, the nation can show a lot of talent in their sports, showing particularly in football. The Shodiax League's entire system is host to more than 2,000 clubs spanning over 8 levels and 82 leagues.

History

As the system has been in function for almost 70 years now, there must be some history behind it. That being said, there are many aspects that we'll go through here, and although it may not be the richest in content, a good portion of such will be nonetheless.

Founding

Before the Independence of Frarstizk, which was a former territory of Hiblund, the nation had settled with the Harletical Iede, which was scarce in clubs and diversity, yet was successful anyway. Although it did include a few lower levels of talent, there was no way for them to cross over each other, there being no such thing as promotion and relegation. This was avoided for the simple reason of a type of formality that the league had, and although the controversy was prominent, no changes were ever established. This being said, this league was dominated by well-built clubs, as the less fortunate were left to suffer. So teams like Antres FC, SV Vovilveante, Boylinaruɣaun FC, and VfL Neu Volfsburɣ had a slight momentum head-start.

However, after the independence, the Harletical Iede folded, leaving clubs from there stranded from playing. This would lead to the break in a consistent top football league in Hiblund, commonly known as the Sciedfelt Stretch. During this period, many leagues have popped up here and there, yet not a consistent winner of the title, "Top Football League in Hiblund". With this, many of the previously aforementioned clubs in the Harletical Iede had decided that they would wait until they find a promising organisation.

Then, in 1953, Ben Shodiax had gathered up enough funding to start his own league, beginning as just another new league attempting to lure in the key items for success- the teams of the Harletical Iede. Unlike many other attempts, almost all of the unemployed clubs of the Harletical agreed with the policies and liked the personality of Ben, and soon the league was publicized and properly founded. Possibly the most important of these policies were the salary cap and relegation system to keep it fair, which the Harletical Iede lacked. It took a while for the clubs to get back to a good financial status, after all, they had been useless for almost seven years, but it was all worth it and the league was properly titled as the top league in Hiblund[1].

Expansions

Early on in its years, the league had been quite exclusive, only hosting three levels; the Piruen, Vaitrel, and one league for each 'cardinal direction' region. The increased popularity and future domination of the league would soon require action to change and generally be more inclusive. The following excerpts will educate you on the actions made and the reasoning behind them.

1958 Expansion

Only five years after the debut of the league, club admission had become a popular desire by many; as other unsuccessful leagues had folded and unemployed players wanted their jobs back. Ben and other officials acted surprisingly quick to this, starting ideas for solutions back in '56. These executives also knew that they needed to keep the league at least semi-exclusive, not making admission by any standards simple.

Nevertheless, it was officially announced in the '58 offseason that there would be a fourth and fifth level add to the system, with permission from each province in Hiblund. The fourth level would have each 'cardinal direction' region split further, with 2-4 divisions as well as 14-16 teams within each of these depending on population. Every individual division in a region would have the same probability of advancing to the next level, with one promotion spot to the third. The fifth level would be subdivided even further, branching into provinces, originally including 20 teams in each province[2]. Then each provincinal champion would claim the position of promotion, advancing to the fourth level. Slots for admission would quickly close, as expected, and unlike pessimistic beliefs, was quite diverse population-wise.

1965 Transfers

The second major system change in Shodiax's history, and responsible for many teams you now know so well today. As the Shodiax League surpassed more and more expectations for their popularity, the more the successful leagues from the Sciedfelt Stretch period became an afterthought. These leagues were dying of this major switch, and the once good teams in these leagues were no longer being supported and successful.

Ben Shodiax decided that the right thing to do was to buy off the clubs with direct admissions, and, in a way, repay the struggling leagues from their losses. These deals were not broadly accepted, as they came off as being expansion-hungry and inconsiderate, despite the fair intent. However, there were still quite a few leagues that were acceptant of their rapidly declining popularity, and gave up some of their better teams to the now thriving Shodiax League.

These leagues that ended up accepting (to some extent) were Xaire, Indoliiov, Norsterlampv, and Cistruine. Clubs that were directly admitted into the league were renamed with their respectful "transfer team" abbreviations to the end of their city name[3]. This being said, the clubs completely ditched their old names as a sign of respect for their former leagues. These abbreviations are reserved exclusively for these clubs, not to be used in any aspect by other Shodiax teams. Shodiax had bought off 10 teams from Xaire, 8 from Indoliiv, and 4 from both Norsterlampv and Cistruine, and gave us teams we now know as Vovilveante XCT, Trinalxii XCT, Vintvenxva XCT, and many other notable clubs from modern times.

On top of this controversial maneuver, executives had introduced a sixth level, expanding on the idea of provincial leagues. They were conceived as direct relegations from the fifth level in each province, however with multiple divisions in order to hold even more clubs. Each one was given 48 new slots to fill (originally), divided by 3 divisions of 16 teams. These clubs started in the sixth level with plenty of other newly admissioned clubs, however were some of the quickest to gain ground, many taking around 20 years to make it to the Piruen Iede.

1971 Creation and Expansion

Once again, without any sort of a play-in league, expansion was prone to come up within meetings. This expansion wasn't anything too creative, just stock assets being blown to higher proportions. A seventh level was created, done so as another branch to the provincial leagues, really nothing special. However, areas with either very little size or very little population[4] were not allowed to include a sixth level, instead just having a larger fifth level.

Each league in the sixth level included a whopping 100 clubs (originally), with 5 divisions including 16 teams, along with another division holding 20. With this, the capacity was increased for each fourth level league to 30 instead of the former 20, leading to plenty of auto-promotion. Keep in mind that this decision was made during the 70-71 season so that they had more time to fill in all 1500+ spots added, and didn't go into full effect until the 72-73 season.

In fear of not having enough teams by the end of the offseason, The Shodiax League itself created new teams in various locations in order to slightly improve the odds of their success. This ended up not being necessary, however that did not keep them from commissioning these 100 newly made teams, of which often had '70 or '71 as their distinguishment term from their city. This much-need branch that appealed to a broader range of audiences was exactly what the Shodiax league system needed to stay the top football league in Hiblund, at least for a few more years.

1989 Amateur Expansion

The push for a more inclusive Shodiax League had finally been resolved in 1989, as the executives finally allowed the Awlescxairu Iede to come into play. The eighth level made it possible for pretty much any properly funded team in Hiblund to make it to the Shodiax League. These also go by the provincinal standards, one for each province. There, five slots are bid upon for their respective teams to be included into the league, as the other three spots in the league are for the club relegated from the seventh/sixth level the previous year, and also the previous second and third positions.

Cities themselves cannot fund a team, as it is against the rules, an individual must found the club without political authority to avoid leaving the majority of clubs as just populated cities having clubs and no diversity whatsoever. The top club is promoted into the seventh/sixth level, depending on the province standards. If a club is in the Awlescxairu for five straight years with their latest not being a podium position, they are not allowed to bid for the next three years. This was widely accepted and accommodated, one of the finishing touches to the league's longevity.

2003 Expansion

The 2003 Expansion didn't add on any new levels at all, rather, just slightly amping up the club number in a few leagues. By all means, this was a minor edit compared to other expansions. In the sixth level, the clubs were boosted to 68 with 4 divisions respectively, and in the seventh level and the sixth-level leagues that acted as seventh-level leagues, the number was improved to 124 with 8 divisions. Yeah, really not much to add about this other than they needed more diversity and more diversity is what they got.

Keys for Sucess

Other than the system itself, the fair play, and the Harletical Iede teams, there has to be more than that to make this one of the most attractive sporting leagues in Anteria. With that in mind, here are some topics that fill out that gap.

Boylinaruɣaun FC (team)

Although this is one of the aforementioned Harletical Iede teams, the club truly peaked twice, both being extremely close together, one in the Harletical and the other in the Shodiax. The latter was host to one of the greatest players of all time, Eluis Ankielun, which almost carried the team to so much success. Games of his were extremely fun to watch, as he would always make a play to amaze the entire audience. The team's Shodiax peak was in the mid 60s, which helped prolong the interest in the league, being far from its debut at this point.

Although the team didn't have much talent other than Ankielun, saying it was a one man show isn't quite accurate. Defender Kermotta Louix and midfielder Calu Stepvaehr helped balance out the talent of the team for sure, giving all positions a level up from the competition. Not to mention a pretty good goalkeeper in Fervaskilaou, which proved to be nothing short of spectacular in times of need. Overall, the team had the recipe for domination, being one of two clubs to claim the honor of a dynasty withstanding over three or four years, depending on your perspectives of other runs.

Vovilveante XCT (team)

Vovilveante XCT may not be the longest standing, or even most successful club[5] in Hiblund's largest city, but knowing its success in the little time the club had in the Shodiax (and no time in the Harletical), you can see it's outstanding what the team has been able to accomplish and bring in to the Shodiax League.

The club was just introduced into the Shodiax League system in 1962, and since then has won 13 titles, even though 18 of those years were spent in the non-main leagues. This club was good in its previous; but short-lived league, the Xaire, but had got increasingly better once they settled into the advanced form of competition held in the Shodiax. It was made a dynasty, and a long lasting one too, bginning in 2013, and is still considered one today.

The reason for success has been infamously known for its teamwork and the integration of the players Harrison, Jaitleii, Ɣalnuez, and Citzarlex. Harrison and Jaitleii are still with the club today, as Ɣalnuez and Citzarlex have retired already. Harrison, likely one of the best forwards in the game behind Ankielun, is renounced for his problem-solving abilities when it comes to breaking defenses and is known for holding the record for most goals in a season, at 45 (2017). Jaitleii, a very teamwork-centric midfielder, who will probably hit the all-time record for assists by his retirement. Ɣalnuez was possibly the best defender of his time, and respected in that manner when retiring in 2019. Easily the most unfortunate of all is Citzarlex's story, of which ended early in 2018. Citzarlex was thought of as the best goalkeeper to ever walk the pitch, and some may say even the best player, period. However, in a tragic car accident, was forced to retire from numerous injuries that he would not ever fully recover from.

Needless to say, this team's overall success and entertainment to watch was a great reason why Shodiax is still relevant today.

Vovilveante XCT 2016-17

One almost ubelievable element of Vovilveante's dynasty was their 2016-17 season, which is considered to be one of the greatest years for any singular football club in history.[6] Thanks to an impeccable talent balance, including a Citzarlex in his prime, the club went completely undefeated this year, finishing 31-3-0. Vovilveante XCT this year was more of an all-star team, having the best of each position on the team and then some. Not to mention this respectability carried over to all games of which they played with this line-up, including international matches; going 9-1-0 in the ACLC, 3-0 in the Assilic[7], and 11-0-0 in friendlies, giving the club a total of 54-4-0 for the recordbooks. The only non-win results came from Antres FC, Porlaik FC, SV Neu Darmstant, and 1.FC Colonia. It isn't necessarily why the team was so good, but rather how the team managed to never have a poor game which rises up suspicion. Even after drug tests and other tests trying to factor out the results, nothing could divert beliefs to a different path rather than pure talent and exceptional coaching. During this season, international reviews skyrocketed, definitely helps Vovil's case in being a major factor to Shodiax's current prominence.

Antres FC vs. Vovilveante XCT

Despite what you would think, first matches occuring in the year 1980 does not mean a thing when talking about diehard rivals. The Shodiax League's biggest rivals, Antres FC and Vovilveante XCT, were not likely to become rivals in the first place, however with many undeniable factors, it ends up being the most important one being time.

First of all, the owners have known each other as friends since middle school years, making the match-up a big enough deal as it is. However, when you look at their performances since their first meet, their trejectories are shockingly parralel with each other, always being at the same stage of development every single season. This rivalry has quickly got colder, especially once the teams got better, as they knew stakes were higher. Nevertheless, every year of the past decade's largest Shodiax single game viewer count has consisted of one of the matches the clubs met during the season. Main Leagues

Shodiax Piruen Iede

Current Logo for the Shodiax Piruen Iede (Uncolored)

The Piruen Iede is quite self-explanatory, it being the most advanced and most popular league in the Shodiax system. This league alone gets 80% of all the total revenue, ranging from television views, ticket prices, and sponsors alike. Out of its 18 total slots, this league has always contained 2 relegation spots to the Vaitrel, 2 promotion spots to the ACLC, and 4 promotion spots to the Assilic Ciumervaii, both promotions alluding to international competitions.

Shodiax Vaitrel Iede

The Vaitrel Iede is also quite easy to explain. It is the direct relegator to the Piruen Iede, and also accounts for a decent portion of the revenue as well, at least with the abundance of sponsors in the league. It includes a total of 18 clubs, much like the Piruen, and is given 2 promotion spots to the Piruen Iede, as well as one relegation spot to the club's respective region. This is the lowest of all the levels that does and cannot suffer from a promotion or relegation change via the Auto Pro/Rel rule. Because of a very low risk of being relegated, this allows more popular teams once in the Piruen to rebuild here in the Vaitrel.

Shodiax Reɣialns Rumijatk Suspelk Iedein

The Reɣialns Rumijatk are split by fours- North, South, West, and East, all of which contain 20 clubs each. The champions of each league go into a playoff to determine the promotion spot to play in the Vaitrel. The number of relegations spots are fully dependent of the number of divisions in the Nimuor for each region, the mean of which being 3. This may change if there is automatic relegation/promotion involved, which will vary with each region.

Shodiax Reɣialns Nimuoir Suspelk Iedein

The Reɣialns Nimuoir is similar to the Rumijatk in the fact that they are split into four regions, however, with an average of 56 clubs, they are split furthermore into divisions, usually containing 14 clubs. Each division holds one promotion spot to the Rumiajatk, and relegation consists of the worst club from each province, unless they are on the top half of the league (which has proven unlikely), moving down into the Provilki A. More relegation follows as selective teams from each league play a relegation-tournament to stay alive, and the number of relegators vary. This may change if there is automatic relegation/promotion involved, which will vary with each region.

Shodiax Provilki Iedein

The leagues specific to their province, which come in large sizes.

Shodiax Provilki A Iedein

The Provilki A is the highest level to be intentionally separated by province, as there are 14 leagues (1 per non-NCD province), with 32 clubs separated into 2 divisions, and 48 with 4 divisions for "exception provinces". Each province selects their champion to promote into the Reɣialns Nimuoir, and a promotion tournament between provinces in each region to determine the other promoters. Relegation is a bit more complicated, with an exception of the Provinces Realsh Vovilveante, Axal, Rebtiasiff, and Urleich (aka the Lower Four); there were 2 relegation spots to the Provilki B, meanwhile, the ones excluded had 4 relegation spots. This may change if there is automatic relegation/promotion involved, which will vary with each region.

Shodiax Provilki B Iedein

Provilki B works very similar to Provilki A, just with different club counts. Once again, there are 14 leagues yet with 68 clubs eparated into 4 divisions with the exception of the Lower Four (spoken about in Proviki A), which contain 128-196 clubs across 8 divisions. The non-Lower Four's promotion consists two slots to the Provilki A and 4 relegation spots to the C. The Lower Four's promotion has four slots, and relegation skips the C and goes straight to the Awlescxairu with a play-off with the possibly promoting team. This may change if there is automatic relegation/promotion involved, which will vary with each region, especitally with the Awlescxairu Iede relegations.

Shodiax Provilki C Iedein

The Provilki C contains only 10 regions, as the Lower Four do not contain leagues here. There are 128 clubs in each region, and 8 divisions throughout. There are 4 promotion spots to the Provilki B, and one play-off relegation spot with the Awlescxairu champion. This may change if there is automatic relegation/promotion involved, which will vary with each region, especitally with the Awlescxairu Iede relegations.

Shodiax Provilki-Ernvael Awlescxairu Iedein

Shodiax Ernvael Iedein

The Ernvael is supposed to serve the lowest communities, always being for part-time players.

Current System's Flaws

Although the Shodiax League has proven successful, it has a couple major flaws that disrupt the flow quite a bit. These are hard to cover without having too large of a disrupt the year of the change.

  • The very first and most prominent flaw is the innerworkings between the second, third, fourth, and fifth levels, the problem by name: Auto Pro/Rel Dispute. The connection between the second and third isn't the best, as the lowest in the Vaitrel is replaced with the best team in the third level, which is play-offed by each region. This causes leagues to have an excess of clubs, which requires automatic relegation and automatic promotion, which is never a fun thing. A solution to this is that the lowest in the Vaitrel replaces the highest in the same region, however, this could make the same region promote and relegate each season. It seems as though the only way to truly fix this is to redo the entire system below the Main leagues, which is unlikely to say the least. We'll see if this will ever get a proper fixing.
  • Another flaw, although not nearly as relevant, is the extremely hard route of crossing major levels, such as going from 3-2, 5-4, and 8-7. Although this brings good things, such as giving lovable/popular teams more time to actually redo and improve their lineup, this also means high congestion in promotion and the lack of opportunity for good teams to actually promote.
  • There will always be loopholes concerning the Awlescxairu, such as cities sneaking by and donating to clubs for bidding, going to Lower Four leagues for higher chance of promotion, the list goes on. The only proper response is to resolve them one by one, which is happening, but they are still tentative to not make any major changes, which will be necessary to fix a few of these.
  • Not necessarily a flaw- but rather an opportunity. The system lacks in municiregional leagues, being in that regard quite exclusive. Another system has these leagues, and if Shodiax buys them off it'll be a huge expansion and upgrade to what we currently have. However, Ben has not even mentioned doing this, and if he does end up deciding that this is a thing, it's only a positive thing.
