The Hiblundiiun Fiutvel Zyntrim Kurn[1], commonly known as the HFZ Kurn for sake of conveniece, is the league cup for the Shodiax League System in Hiblund. The tournament was founded in the same offseason as the 1958 Expansion, and has proven sufficient since then. Although the tournament does not help to promote any clubs to a domestic cup, there is no reason to back down, as competition is slightly at ease and there is a very nice prize pool for those who make it far enough.

Format

Qualifying

Qualification is determined by the tables of the preceding season, letting the HFZ Kurn take place during the following season. All clubs present in the Shodiax Piruen and Vaitrel automatically quality, leaving 28 left. The top three in each of the Reɣialns Rumijatk leagues will qualify, as well as the winner of each division in the Reɣialns Nimuoir. With 4 remaining slots, these are given to the best promoters from the Provilki A, which is determined by a mini-tournament called the HFZ Provilki Kurn Indresa.

Seeding

In all but the final stage in the tournament, the remaining competitors are separated into two different groups, one containing the higher half of talent (more specifically performance in the regular season) and the other being on the lower half. Then, matches are randomly decided with the home team being from the higher group and the visitor being from the lower group. These two groups are scrapped and redone for the next round. The final match is played at a neutral venue, usually an equal distance from the two cities as possible.

History

Although the qualification for the tournament has alwayed stayed the same, the format has taken minor changes through the past. Before the year 1966, seeding was completely determined by the performance in the Shodiax League System, no matter where they place in the system. The matches were determined by the best playing the worst and making matches more even from there, such as 1v64, 2v63, etc. This format changed to its current state because of some inaccuracies from the HFZ Provilki Kurn Indresa and Reɣialns Rumtiajik and Nimuoir divides. The Hiblundiiun Football Association decided that a completely random system of deciding matches would be uncomplicated and would be more responsible than unfair seeding.

Vairel Iede Protests

During the Vaitrel Iede Protests, where all competition was stopped besides the Piruen Iede, The HFA tried their best to attempt to get the Vaitrel Iede clubs and below to compete. For all five years of the protest, the Vaitrel clubs stood their ground and would not compete in the HFZ Kurn, not because they were against it, but because they wanted to prove a point that they weren't going anywhere. The Piruen clubs and the HFA were wondering what to do with this, but eventually they decided to let it go and just call off the competition. Once the Vaitrel Iede Protests had ended and they rejoined former competition, the HFZ Kurn was postponed once more because of there not being a season the previous year, hence it being impossible to seed the competitors. The HFZ Kurn would go back to normal the following year.

Major criticism to the decision made during these times mostly comes from the powerhouse club Vovilveante XCT. VOX, at this time, was going through their best seasons in franchise history, and was immensely disappointed that their historical seasons could not be displayed in the HFZ Kurn. They had wished that the HFZ Kurn could take place without the Vaitrel entirely, being two wild card matches to follow into a 16-team bracket, allowing for all the Piruen members to compete. This was rejected because it was "too far-fetched from the normal competition style".

The other team that had major problems with the decisions was Xhabriik ICT. Xhabriik was the most broadly-spoken non-supporter in the Vaitrel of the whole protest session. They had been on the verge of promotion the year before it started, and the motive of improving health conditions simply wasn't relevant to them. They attempted to bypass the Vaitrel decision and wished to compete in the HFZ Kurn anyways, making it a 19-team bracket proposition, however, the proposition was rejected by both the Piruen and then the HFA again, and the Vaitrel fined Xhabriik ICT for trying to go against the movement.
