The Commissioner of Mava (Almagrian: Comisionado/a de mava; Mavean: Maava Kuukaqakak) is the representative of the federal government of Atitlan[a] in Mava, an unincorporated territory of Atitlan located in the Sarosan Ocean. The Commissioner is appointed by the Huey Tlahtoani to represent the interests of the Atitlanese federal government and to oversee the implementation of relevant laws. Unlike other governors of dependent states, the commissioner does not weild executive power, with duties akin to an ambassador and an advisor.
Because of Mava's small size and autonomy, Atitlan has not permanently stationed a resident commissioner on the islands since 1981. Instead, the commissioner usually spends 4-6 months on the island, delegating their duties to the chairman of Mava Council in their absence.
