Ana Freidriksdohter (Azmaran: [ɑnɑ fɹeiðɹɪgzdoçtəɹ]; born 11 July 1980) is an Azmaran politician who has served as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in the governments of Sofija Anasdohter and Freidrik Aleksaanderssun since 2020 and as leader of The Radicals since 2018. Between 2020 and 2023 she additionally served as Deputy Thingspeaker of Azmara.
Due to her father's role as a civil servant working for the Euclean Community, Freidriksdohter was born in Kesselbourg and lived there for much of her early childhood before moving to Lilijenburg, Aalmsted at the age of nine. Freidriksdohter would study political science and international relations at both the University of Aalmsted and the University of Montecara and would later train as a teacher. She would teach political science and economics at Lilijenburg Gymnasium for ten years before deciding to run for office in the 2014 election, citing the 2013 Azmaran student protests as her impetus.
She would be elected to represent Aalmsted and would emerge as a notable voice on the left of the party, being somewhat critical of her party's coalition partners in Gold Flame and the Centre Party on many occasions. Upon party leader Maþeis Maþeissun's resignation in 2018 after a poor result in 2017, she would emerge as the frontrunner to replace him and would lead her party to a rebound in support in 2020, winning 13% of the vote. After three months of negotiations, she would agree to a coalition with the governing Workers' Party and the Greens, in which she would serve as Deputy Thingspeaker and Foreign Secretary, making her the first openly LGBTQ person to serve in either position. She would reprise her role as Foreign Secretry in the succeeding government of Freidrik Aleksaanderssun.
Freidriksdohter has been identified as a left-liberal and Euclofederalist, and under her leadership the party has heavily associated itself with progressive causes such as environmentalism, Azmaran federalism, the promotion of feminism and LGBTQ rights abroad and drug decriminalisation while maintaining a centrist, middle-class focused line on economics. This approach has been reflected in her tenure as Foreign Secretary, with Freidriksdohter being known as a promoter of a more integrated Euclea as a world leader on these issues.
Early life
Freidriksdohter was born in Kesselbourg City on the 11th July 1980. She was the third of three children of Freidrik Siimunssun and Alana Stefansdohter, Azmaran nationals who resided in Kesselbourg due to her father's role as a civil servant working for the Euclean Community's institutions. Her mother, meanwhile, worked as a mathematics teacher at a local gymnasium within the city.
She would reside in Kesselbourg for the first nine years of her life and would attend primary education in the city before moving to the Aalmsted neighbourhood of Lilijenburg at the age of nine as her father transferred to the Ministry of Euclean Affairs within the Azmaran government. She attended Lilijenburg Gymnasium for secondary education, where she would excel at the social sciences and would become politically active, joining the youth wing of the centrist Azmaran Democrats.
She would attend the Mikel Hankssun School of Government at the University of Aalmsted, specialising political science and international relations while taking a few classes on economics. She would continue her political activism here, being involved in the university's chapter of the Democrats and being involved in the university's debating society and multiple student campaigns. After graduating in 2001, she would pursue a master's degree at the University of Montecara, writing a dissertation on the foreign policy of the Euclean Community.

While in her second year of university, she would marry fellow Mikel Hankssun School of Government student and Lilijenburg Gymnasium alumni Jon Alanssun at a secular ceremony. In 2004 the couple would welcome their first and only child, a boy, yet a few months after the couple would divorce in a situation Freidriksdohter has described as "very amicable".
Since 2014, Freidriksdohter has been in a relationship with Maarija Jonsdohter, a human rights lawyer. The couple reside in a 19th-century townhouse alongside Freidriksdohter's son and Jonsdohter's two daughters from a previous relationship. Asked about her sexual orientation in 2018 by Westmaark Nuudaag, Freidriksdohter described herself as bisexual.
Freidriksdohter's older brother, Leif Freidrikssun, serves as a Member of the Landsmot for The Radicals representing the University Graduates constituency. She has described herself as a fan of Azmaran popular music and cinema, and speaks fluent Hoeltish and Gaullican as a result of her upbringing in Kesselbourg.
