Kendrick Benton (born Kendrick Humza Yosef) is a Zamastanian-Tasiastani politician who serves as the senator for Cayenne's 4th district in Congressional Hall since 2010. He is a member of the Blue Conservative Party, and currently serves as Majority Leader for the party in the 110th Congress. Prior to this, he was the Minority Leader in the 109th Congress. Born in Jaljur, Tasiastan in 1971 with the birth name Huzma Yosef, Kendrick and his parents immigrated to Zamastan in 1975 where they changed their family name to 'Benton' after the family that helped finance their migration. Kendrick and his parents became Zamastanian citizens in 1978, and Kendrick grew up in a Alberni, Jade neighborhood. Kendrick attended the University of Cayenne in Fougere, where he graduated in 1993. After a journalism career with a local news station in Alabaster, Benton ran for public office as the Provincial Minister of Transport for Cayenne from 2002-2010. He was elected to the Senate in 2010.
Benton has been known for his more moderate views within the Conservative Party, holding more right-leaning economic views but more socially liberal ones. He advocates for the reduction of federal spending and taxes, increased funding for infrastructure and public works, and believes in reducing the expansion of federal healthcare in preference for private companies. He has expressed support for increased gun control legislation, mostly in the form of background checks, and supports immigration reform. He also advocates for increased military spending and supported both the 2020 intervention in Ossinia and 2021 air campaign in West Chanchajilla.
