The Leader of Mava Council (Mavean: Taapiit Maava Puuaqat) is the presiding officer of Mava's local parliament and chair of its cabinet. Although not officially designated as such, the leader is de facto head of government. They are elected by Mava Council and serve at its pleasure.
The post was created alongside the Council, as part of the process of instituting limited local government. The post is roughly equivalent of a state governor and the mayor of a municipality.
The current Leader of the Council is Kausaanek Malaati, who took office on 22 March 2023.
