'''Sebastian I, Duke of Toron''' <small>ChSL ChCE ChB</small> (''Sebastian Jaison Tancred Charles''; born 4 September 1994) is a member of the [[Sydalene royal family]] royal. He has reigned as [[Duke of Toron]] and executive of the domain of the Duchy of Toron since 2013. He is the second child of [[Desiderius, Prince of Petra]] and [[Eirene of Latium|Princess Eirene of Latium]]. He is [[Line of succession to the Sydalene throne|third in line]] to the Sydalene throne.
==Early life and education==
Sebastian was born on 4 September 1994 at Castra Rubea, [[Sydalon (city)|Sydalon]]. He is the second child and eldest son of [[Desiderius, Prince of Petra]] and [[Eirene of Latium|Princess Eirene of Latium]]. Sebastian was christened on 19 December 1994 at the Cathedral of the Holy Sepulchre, by the [[Pope of the Fabrian Catholic Church|Pope]]. His godparents are [[Prince Theodosius, Duke of Beroea]] (his mother's brother), and [[Princess Jordana, Duchess of Montjoie]] (his father's sister). He was named Sebastian after [[Sebastián Ordaz]], his great-great grandfather; Jason after his uncle, then [[Jason VI Augustus of Latium|Jason, Prince of Youth]]; and Tancred after his great-grandfather [[Tancred II, Duke of Toron]].
Sebastian was educated by a governess until the age of 8. Like his elder sister [[Melisende III of Sydalon|Melisende]], Sebastian's education was focused on the constitution, history, and scripture. He most notably received scripture lessons from the Pope on occasion. Sebastian followed after his sister and became the second member of the Sydalene royal family to attend university when he enrolled at {university}. He earned a degree in politics from Balzac in 2015. In 2014, he took classes at {university}, in {nation}, during a foreign exchange program.
In fall 2015, he began studying law at [[Balzac University]], making Sebastian the first member of the royal family to attend and be awarded a degree from a domestic university. He graduated as a {{wp|Master of Laws}} in 2018.
==Duke of Toron==
Since his birth, Sebastian was recognized as heir apparent to the [[Toron|Duchy of Toron]] as the eldest son of his father, who was Duke of Toron from 1975 until 2013. Like his father, Sebastian was styled as a Prince of Sydalon from birth and did not utilize any noble style as heir to Toron. In 2013, he became Duke of Toron following the death of his father. Sebastian appointed a regent to govern the [[Political divisions of Sydalon#Domains|domain]] while he was enrolled at university. After finishing his education, Sebastian began taking a more active role in the local Toron government.
==Haut Cour appointment==
In 2011, Sebastian attended his first [[High Court of Sydalon|Haut Cour]] meeting. He was appointed to the Haut Cour as a Queen's Councillor in 2017 following his sister's coronation as Queen, in which he continues to serve.

As the child of the [[Prince of Petra]], Sebastian was afforded the rank of Prince with the territorial designation of his father <nowiki>"of Petra"</nowiki>. He was heir to the Duchy of Toron from birth, though due to his status as a Prince of Sydalon and possible heir to the throne, he did not utilize the traditional style of the Toron heir apparent, <nowiki>"Hereditary Lord of Toron"</nowiki>. He is entitled to be style <nowiki>"His Royal Highness"</nowiki> until his death, but his children may not utilize this style unless granted letters patent by the [[Monarchy of Sydalon|Monarch]].
