The 1985 World Cup, also called the 1985 Danaska World Cup, was an international football tournament contested by men's national teams which took place between 9 April to 16 April, 1985 in Danaska, Gladysynthia. It was the thirteenth World Cup, a worldwide football tournament held once every year. The tournament phase involved 32 teams, of which all came through qualifying competitions at the start of the event from an original 64 national teams. At the time, it was one of the most watched sporting events in the history of the world.

31 national teams advanced through qualification competitions to join the host nation in the final tournament, with a total of 64 matches played. Zamastan defeated Syraranto in the final 3-0, becoming the first team to win three titles and the first to win back-to-back tournaments. The Zamastanian-Gladysynthian semi-finals match was the most-watched sporting event of all time, due in large part to the tense history between the two nations who had fought the Second Danaska War between themselves nearly fifteen years earlier in 1970.

64 competing countries were divided into eight groups of eight teams (groups A to H). Teams in each group played one another in a round-robin best two-out-of-three, with the top four teams advancing to the knockout stage with the Round of 32.
