The 2023 Zalluabed coup occured on August 20th, 2023, when the Royal Zalluabed Defense Forces under the command of General Saahir Salim ousted the democratically-elected government of President Husani Antar. After Antar's announcement that he would seek Zalluabed's withdrawal from the Trans-Toyana Prosper Alliance, Salim and his supporters, who were backed by former-Presidents Abdelaziz Melkabaar and Zayyaan al-Akhtar, rallied thousands of military personnel to take control of government offices in the capital of Zakaraban and other major cities across Zalluabed. The National Assembly was suspended, and the executive authority of King Farik al-Jamura were also withdrawn as Salim assumed executive control of the government and formed an interim-governing council. Antar fled into exile by covertly crossing into Albarine with refugees, where he was granted asylum by Chancellor Sadie Melhaven.
The coup was met with international condemnation, with WEDA states in particular criticizing Salim for undermining the democratic process in Zalluabed. The coup was supported, however, by the TTPA, with Drambenburg specifically providing direct support to the coup with the deployment of 400 marines. Clashes between pro-Antar and pro-military factions across Zalluabed killed hundreds of people, and resulted in the start of a civil war.
