Anca Déuréy University is a public research university in Narsiad, Herlan. Previously organised as a clandestine university in Xevden, it began to operate openly after Narsiad joined the Free Territories, and was made official after the Liberation War. It is one of Gylias' oldest and most prestigious universities, as well as the largest.

In the late 19th century, writer Anca Déuréy began to lend her Narsiad mansion for the use of informal schools. When she died, her testament left her mansion to be an archive of her works and a public education institution. This was rendered difficult by the ongoing Xevdenite disintegration. It operated underground until Narsiad joined the Free Territories, then openly.
Anca Déuréy University received official recognition after the Liberation War ended, with Narsiad City Council taking responsibility for funding. It is one of Gylias' few tertiary education institutions named after a person. The lavish campus was one of Eðe Saima's prized public works projects during the Golden Revolution, and remains a leading example of "public luxury".
Academics
Anca Déuréy University is divided into three faculties: Humanities, Science, and Medicine. There are a total of 20 departments, each grouped in their respective faculty.
Notably, the university does not have an economics department.
It is considered a top research institution of Gylias, particularly in social sciences, humanities, and psychedelics.
Governance
The university is governed through a system of direct democracy: boards are chosen by sortition among students and faculty, who then vote on every issue. The boards in turn elect the university council, which monitors performance and formalises the budget and long-term planning.
Its motto — Φιλόσοφος γίνου (Filósofos gínou) — is one of the Delphic maxims, and translates as "Be a seeker of wisdom".
Notable people
Notable alumni of the university include Kaede Nakano, Chizuru Ogawa, Teresa Ganzel, Maartje de Jager, Catherine Baudelaire, Astrid Marett, Virginia Astley, the members of Infectious Grooves, Nauşa Felan, Sáe Nyran, Patsy Reilly, Dana Tan, and Hélène Daucourt.
Saira Telyn studied at the university but left without graduating, while Virginia Gerstenfeld worked at the faculty without having earned a formal degree.
While Anca Déuréy University is one of Gylias' most prestigious universities, most of its alumni pursue careers in academia or the arts, leaving it comparatively underrepresented in politics. Mathilde Vieira is the only Prime Minister who attended it. Dana Tan is one of the few cabinet ministers who attended it.
