Units
The Arcadian Army is divided into 5 distinct commands, each focusing on one area of the Army's responsibilities.
Ground Forces Command (GROCOM) encompasses all conventional land-based maneuver forces of the Arcadian Federal Army, as well as Corps-level organic supporting units. For ease of command and control purposes, the Arcadian Marines are also included in this command structure and subordinated to Army training and organization unless tasked to the Navy for specific operations, like base or ship security. As of 2022, GROCOM maintains 14 mechanized brigades, 12 armor brigades, 8 infantry brigades, 4 airborne infantry brigades, 2 airborne mechanized brigades, and 2 airborne armored brigades in its active forces for a total of 42 active maneuver brigades. For reserves, GROCOM currently maintains 4 mechanized brigades, and 4 infantry brigades for a total of 8 reserve maneuver brigades; the reserves also maintain a number of minimally-staffed units capable of being fully staffed in emergencies and deployed as regular fighting brigades. Additionally, numerous supporting and rear-echelon units are attached at the corps and division levels and include medical, logistical, engineering, air defense, intelligence, artillery, and military police regiments.
Supporting Forces Command (SUPCOM) includes units not involved in conventional maneuver warfare, such as theater-level ballistic missile and air defense, furthermost rear echelon medical units such as base hospitals, high-level investigative military police units, and intelligence.
Sustainment and Material Command's (SUMCOM) responsibility is Army-wide logistics. Everything from ammunition and missiles, to uniforms and food are acquired via SUMCOM and then dispersed to the other commands when needed. SUMCOM also maintains prepositioned Army stocks where able and fleets of mothballed reserve vehicles.
Modernization Command (MODCOM) performs the task of working with the other commands to identify technologies and systems that are necessary to be acquired or upgraded. Seeking, evaluating, and selecting the next generation of Army weapons and systems is done by MODCOM with the input of the commands that will use them.
Doctrine and Training Command (DOTCOM) both trains all new soldiers and officers of the Army, but also develops and publishes all doctrinal, training, maintenance, and skill manuals used by the Army.
