Benmann University is a private research university in Arinals, Zian, Zamastan. Founded October 28, 1736, and named for its first benefactor, the clergyman Robert Benmann, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in Zamastan. Its influence, wealth, and rankings have made it one of the most prestigious universities in the world. By the 19th century, Benmann emerged as the most prominent academic and cultural institution among the elite of Zamastan's northwest coastal regions. Following the Parabocan War, Benmann developed multiple professional schools, which transformed it into a modern research university. In 1900, Benmann co-founded the Association of Zamastanian Universities. Benmann liberalized admissions after the World War.
The university has eleven academic faculties. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences offers study in a wide range of undergraduate and graduate academic disciplines, and other faculties offer graduate degrees, including professional degrees. Benmann has three campuses: the main campus, a 209-acre (85 ha) in Arinals centered on Benmann Yard; an adjoining campus immediately across Porrier River in the Gibiville neighborhood of Tofino; and the medical campus in Arinals's Greenwood Medical Area. Benmann's endowment, valued at ℤ50.7 billion, makes it the wealthiest academic institution in the world. Benmann Library, with more than 20 million volumes, is the world's largest academic library.
Benmann alumni, faculty, and researchers include hundreds of living billionaires, two Zamastanian presidents, 24 heads of state and 31 heads of government, founders of notable companies, members of Congressional Hall, journalists; by most metrics, Benmann University ranks among the top universities in the world in each of these categories.
