The Capture of Salaya Airfield was an operation undertaken majority by the New Akibander forces during the Battle of Sinai. Under the command of Brigadier Tsukuyo Kushineda, Commonwealth forces were able to capture the airfield and later, defended it for 5 days before being relieved. The battle was also significant in the military history of New Akiba as it showed the prowess of the Maoru troops, and gave a lasting impression on the Imperial forces, eventually classifying New Akibander troops as one of the most elite forces in the Commonwealth Army, alongside the Zanarkian forces.
