The Battle of Amestria was a battle in the Middle East Campaign that occurred on September 12, 1940.

During the battle, the Allies had discovered an excavation site 5 miles northeast of the ruins. It's purpose was later revealed to be laying the discovery of the mythical Staff of Seleucus for the Quenminese emperor Hiệp Mạng, although it was never found.
