Kongelige Eiol Intersystems a/s (/aɪ.ɔl/, often stylised as EIOL), is a Scovernois multinational computing and technology company specialising in computer hardware, research, robotics, and more recently AI and quantum computing. Eiol is the largest company in Scovern by revenue and is also one of the largest companies in Euclea. The company is headquartered at Le Tesseract in the Viemose district of Rimso, Scovern, and maintains offices in over 60 countries globally, including regional headquarters in Nouvelle-Rayenne and Keisi.
Eiol was founded in 1949 by Einar Olsen, a Scovernois researcher and pioneer of early computers and programming. The company expanded greatly in size in the 1960s and 1970s when it became renowned for innovation and reliability, manufacturing computers that saw use in space exploration, commercial aviation, miitary technology as well as some of the first personal computers. In 1976, the company began using its iconic slogan, "Gentænk elektronik." ("rethink electronics"), famously attributed to regional manager Isak Kleppe though now credited to then-company intern Elna Mossing. Eiol mostly stopped the production of consumer electronics in the 1990s after being overtaken by Umehara and Bridgeware, and moved more into automation and corporate consultancy.
In the 2000s, Eiol were pioneers of the first ever quantum computer, the Eiol Model QX, and have since been at the forefront of the quantum computing age and modern artificial intelligence. The company is known for its extensive research projects, with over 30,000 of its employees being researchers. Eiol is a publicly-traded aktieselskab, traded on the Weranian Stock Exchange (WSE).
