The Erebonian Special Air Service (SAS) is an elite special forces unit of the Erebonian Army founded in 1941 by Brigadier Brian Regnitz, who was subsequently named as The Father of the Erebonian Special Forces for his dedication to special forces operations during the Second Europan War. The unit takes its roots and inspiration from the Lucian Special Air Service, which was formed during the Middle East Campaign to harass and disrupt Imperial supply lines and network. Much like the Lucian SAS, most of its operations are held classified. The unit takes a number of roles much like its counterpart.
The Erebonian SAS was formed following Erebonia and Rubrum's entry into the Middle East Theatre, with the latter forming another independent SAS unit called the Rubrumian Special Air Service founded by Colonel Peter Ardur Rashia. Both the Rubrumian and Erebonian SAS often worked cooperatively in most operations throughout the war.
The Railway Military Police, another elite unit in the Erebonian Army was established by Prime Minister Giliath Osbourne, were constantly in disputes during the Imperial Crisis as most believed that the RMP was going to replace the Erebonian SAS as Erebonia's special forces unit. In the end, with regards to the overall nature of training and skill, the Erebonian SAS remained and became Erebonia's permanent special forces unit.
