James Layton (May 18, 1986) is a Rubrumian-Lucian military man currently serving in the Lucian Armed Forces. He is the commander of the 1st Battalion of Princess Marianne's Own Horse Guards since 2014. He used to serve Klankain Auchinleck IV during the Second Lucis Civil War. He was promoted to Brigadier after the war for his contributions.
Early Life
James was born to a family of military men. His father was a colonel in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Rubrum while his mother is a teashop owner in Manchester. He finished his education in St. Frederick's University in Tristain before he flew back to Lucis to enroll in the King's Military College of Cornwall. Here, He graduated with a degreee in Entrepreneurship to run his mother's tea shop.
He and his father loved each other because of their interests and his father, before dying blessed his son that he will be a famous war hero like his grandfathers. He graduated with a rank of Captain and enlisted in the Lucian Armed Forces in X930.
Military Career
He first served in the 1st Battalion of the King's Grenadier Guards. He showed effective command and handling of the squad that he was even promoted to Major and was given the command of the battalion. His first taste of combat happened during the Second Lucis Civil War. In X934, He and his battalion was separated but managed to meet up with the Zanarkians under the command of Klankain Auchinleck IV. Temporarily, James served under Klankain's command to raid various Republican settlements in the Lucis Region and in Niflheim as the war ended.
Klankain was impressed and wrote a letter of recommendation that James would be promoted to Colonel which did not happen until the end of the war as well as being given command to one of the newest divisions in the Lucian Armed Forces, The 1st Battalion of Princess Marianne's Horse Guards. During the TRIOC Exercises, He was called to train in Joyonghea alongside the other Commonwealth nations.
Personal Life
Known for being a man of few words with occasional smiles, James has no good looking appearance but has a dignity and attitude. In his teenage life, He grew to be an annoying child but his life changed because of his friend, Reisi Kurasawa, who has a degree in Psychology. Currently, James is married to Matilda Prohászka, who he had dated for 3 years.
