Task Force 142 was a subunit of Task Force 141. It primarily consisted of cadets and new recruits with the task of providing support to TF 141 as well as training potential recruits in the field of special operations before finally transferring to the main unit. TF 142 was created as part of Field Marshal Kiriya Kitagawa's agreement with the Thors Military Academy as part of its advanced self-defence program and training. The unit distinguished itself during the Erebonian Civil War and in the War of the Commons, where it played a role in preventing the Osbourne-ruled Erebonian Government in invading Calvard. In 2022, TF 142 was disbanded following the graduation of Class VII and other cadets from across the Commonwealth.

Task Force 142's role as a staging ground for recruits in special operations and advanced self-defence was taken over by Task Force 141 after Kiriya's son, Naoto Kitagawa claimed that the need for a subunit of cadets was no longer needed. All of TF 142's members were subsequently transferred to TF 141 with all given a promotion by 1 rank up. Today, TF 141 serves as the Thors Academy's unit for recruits, in which many are assigned to its Cadet Regiment.

The unit was also supplanted by troops from Squad 7, Royal Gallian Militia and Squad 422, Royal Gallian Militia. It was primarily led in the field by Thors Academy professor, Lieutenant Waldemar Fegelein.
