Janusz Kasper Mëdzerz was the eighth President of Lecistan from 11 July 2015 to 19 July 2015, as well as leader of the Moderate Front and the Society of Socialists. Born in Wilhelmin in 1962, Mëdzerz first entered politics as the Moderate Front deputy for Brzny North, winning his seat in the 1995 general election. He was chosen as the Moderate Front's leader in 2002, but lost his seat in the Royal Chamber in the 2005 general election. He won over fifty-five percent of the national vote in July 2015 general election, making him President under a majority government, the first for the Moderate Front since 1985. His presidency was never official, as Grand Duke Juhani III appointed Wiktór Kozlowski of the National Union for the Resurgence of Lecistan to lead a minority government. This caused a crisis in the Moderate Front, and Mëdzerz resigned from the party on 21 July 2015, forming his own centre-left Society of Socialists with eight other deputies. He was assassinated on 24 July 2015 after a being shot at during a rally protesting the Lecistani government.
