Kristina Marie Leach (born November 2nd, 1989) is a Zamastanian television personality and former-government assistant who worked as an aide in the Presidential Mansion under President Atticus Moreau. In January 2022, the tabloid ZamDaily published Leach's detailings of an affair she had with President Moreau in late 2020 and the subsequent coverup by his staff including her termination. President Moreau admitted to the affair publicly and the fallout from the revelations led to his decision to drop from his 2022 reelection bid.

As a result of the public coverage of the scandal, Leach gained international celebrity status. She subsequently engaged in a variety of ventures that included working as a television personality for the Zamastan News Network. In mid-2022, she published a book called The President and His Leach detailing her time in the Moreau administration, her affair with the President, and the coverup and scrutiny she faced.

Early life

Kristina Leach was born in Tirzah, Zian, and grew up in an affluent family in Tofino in the Westside Point Grey area of the city. Her father, Davian Leach, is an oncologist and university professor who works at the University of Tofino. Her mother, born Marcia Kay Leach, is a renowned political-fiction author who uses the name Marcia Kay. Following her high school graduation, Leach attended Lynntown College in Tofino. During this time, she worked for the drama department at Mackay High School and at a tie shop.

With the assistance of a family connection, Leach secured a position as an aide in the office of the President's Chief of Staff Josephine Champernon. Leach moved to Kingston and took up the position in September 2020, shortly after the 2020 election and Moreau's inauguration.

Scandal

On January 29th, 2022, the tabloid ZamDaily published an article the accusations of Kristina Leach, who said that she and Moreau had multiple "romantic encounters" from October to November of 2020. She claimed that Moreau requested that she step away from her post after she threatened to tell the First Lady about the affair. When Leach refused to resign, she was reportedly fired by then-Chief of Staff Josephine Champernon (who had resigned on December 19th, 2021) who threatened Leach with a non-disclosure agreement and a criminal charge for 'attempting to influence or blackmail a politician'. Leach provided "ZamDaily" with multiple images, including a selfie that showed an embrace between Leach and Moreau, and another where Leach is kissing Moreau's cheek.

On February 10th, 2022, Moreau publicly confessed that he had "not been monogamous" and had a consensual relationship with Leach. In his statements, the president said that he had told his wife, First Lady Dr. Sophie Moreau, about the affair in January of 2021, and that the relationship had ended. The president and the First Lady had attended couple's therapy in early 2021 in the aftermath of the affair, and it was agreed between them to set aside the events in order to maintain their marriage and public image. First Lady Sophie Moreau was next to the president during his statements, visibly holding his hand.

Moreau stated; "I was not faithful to my wife, and it was damaging. I apologized at the time to my wife, and I hold the shame of my mistake everyday. The First Lady and I have come to our arraingments and have set aside the issue, and we are continuing in our marriage and life together. I love my wife tremendously, and she has been beyond gracious to me in her forgiveness. She is the most remarkable woman in my life, and her forgiveness was not something I deserved. This affair occured more than 16 months ago, and my wife and I have made ammends. I am continuing to work on myself as a person, and I am fully committed to continuing my presidency unabrupted."
