Lauren Ashton Saunders (born September 9, 1982) is a Zamastanian educator and politician who has served as a senator for the Holish Islands since 2010. Saunders comes from a family of political influence, as her father Lanceole Saunders served as a senator for the Holish Islands, and her great-grandfather was President Olivier Saunders. A member of the Green Liberal Party, Saunders first entered politics as a representative for the Holish Islands' 4th congressional district in 2004, and ran to secure Senator Tina Leeper's open seat in 2010. Saunders unsuccessfully ran for party leadership in 2020, placing second to Alian Matten. Saunders is considered one of the most liberal members of Zamastan's legislatures, promoting plans to create and maintain good-paying jobs for young people, tackling the threat of climate change, providing tuition-free post-secondary education, and combatting the unequal distribution of wealth.
