Legislation Day is a public holiday in the Empire Of Makko Oko. It is celebrated for 1 day only on the 16th day of December every year to commeorate and celebrate the founding of the Emperor's Law Council. The public holiday came to be in 2022 when Emperor Conall Solis declared the formation of a new public holiday, on the same day as the ending of the 1st Session. The day, December 16th, was chosen for the occasion due to that day also being the beginning of the 2nd Session.

Legislation Day Parade

On Legislation Day every year, a parade and celebration is to be held in the streets of the capital city, with a float driving slowly across the city's streets. Each Legislation Day parade is planned and run differently, such as the 1st Legislation Day Parade had all the members of the 1st Session, and the Emperor, on the top of the float, and the Emperor gave a speech the day of the parade from the float to everybody there at the time of the speech.

Customs & Activities

Legislation Day is a declared public holiday by the government, however, it is not a holiday for the government, or for banks. The only guaranteed holiday benefit in regards to Legislation Day is that it is a half-day for all courthouses in the nation. All other government agencies must remain open as if it was any other day, and any non-government business may choose to close at their discretion. Per mandate by the Emperor, any business that stays open on Legislation Day must fly the flag of the Empire unimpeded and not frayed, destroyed or torn.

Due to businesses not being forced to close, a lot of clothing and boutique stores have special Legislation Day sales for people to buy stuff at a discount, including to buy clothes to wear to the parade. Some people throw parties at their houses but the main celebration is the parade itself, and in a way, it's the only thing to look forward to on that holiday.
