On the matter he said "at times, I am very thankful I made it on the Yes Factor. Without my musical career, I am not sure my family would have stayed afloat. Many in Bulfawst haven't". After his engagement to Kenneth IV was announced, MacTomlin confirmed that he would stop voting once he became a member of the Royal Household and would end his membership as a Social Democrat.
