The Munchies Corporation, also referred to as "Munchies" or "the M," is a fast food restaurant chain operating throughout Rizealand. It was founded in 1948 by William Perry and Sam Sheahan as one of the first fast food chains in Rizealand, utilizing revolutionary concepts of limited standardized menus and assembly line-style kitchen operations to quickly fulfill customer orders. Following the opening of its first location in Irving, San Andreas, Munchies quickly spread to all of Rizealand's states and territories. Today, Munchies is the largest fastfood chain in Rizealand with 2,747 locations nationwide, 149,792 employees, and an annual revenue of $3.336 billion rizals. While Munchies' most common food items include sliders, hot chips, soft drinks, and shakes, it also offers a variety of other menu items including chicken products, salads, wraps, breakfast foods, dessert items, and coffee.

History

The first Munchies was opened on May 24, 1948 in Irving, San Andreas as the "Munchy Diner," the result of a partnership between business magnate William Perry and Sam Sheahan. Sheahan had worked in weapons factories during the Solarian War but after the war ended in 1946, he was laid off in a wave of workforce reductions. He then worked in the restaurant industry for a year as a cook in drive-in diners and noticed they often dealt with customers frustrated by how long it took for their orders to arrive. Sheahan then had the idea to utilize a standardized factory-style assembly system that would allow the diner to serve a greater number of customers in a shorter period of time. After bringing his idea to the manager of his diner, his ideas were promptly dismissed and he was later fired for continuing to promote his idea. After his firing, he went to complain to William Perry, who owned the diner he had previously worked at. Although Sheahan had gone to Perry to seek his reinstatement as a cook, their meeting turned into a pitch meeting when Perry expressed interest in his idea. Perry then provided the capital and funding to convert an old diner of his into the first "Munchy Diner."

Placed in charge of the first Munchy Diner, Sheahan incorporated many of his new innovations which included a limited menu offering only sliders, hot chips, and milkshakes, as well reorganizing the format of the kitchen, and establishing an assembly line for the restaurant cooks to quickly cook, prepare, and assemble the food. In the first five years of its operations, the Munchy Diner was a success and pulled in record profits that rivaled all of Perry's other diners. Perry and Sheahan decided to expand their operations and began opening franchises throughout southern San Andreas. In 1954, Sheahan and Perry expanded out of San Andreas when they had their first franchise established in Liberty City. Around this same time, Sheahan and Perry shortened the name of their fast food chain to "Munchies" and formed the Munchies Corporation with Perry as the CEO and Sheahan as the director of franchising. On April 22, 1964, Munchies went public on the Liberty City Stock Exchange. Since its founding, Munchies has expanded rapidly and now has franchises in every state and territory of Rizealand, making it one of the most dominant fast food companies in the nation.

Structure and operations

Originally structured as a partnership between founders William Perry and Sam Sheahan, Munchies was organized as a corporation in Lothicania on November 26, 1953. In 1984, Munchies was reincorporated under the laws of the Onnohou Nation in what some have criticized as a move to dodge taxes. During its formative years, Munchies had its corporate headquarters in Irving, San Andreas. As grew into a national chain however, Munchies relocated its headquarters to a more central location in Liberty City. Its original location in Irving still stands today and operates as "Store #1" which is often the first location to release any new menu items. Its former headquarters in Irving also still serve as a corporate campus where new franchise owners are trained at the "Slider School" and where development teams work on testing and cooking new food items.

In the beginning, Munchies was famous for only offering sliders, hot chips, and shakes, while many other diners offered many different courses, leading to long prep times. As Munchies expanded throughout Rizealand however and became a national fast food chain, they began to expand their menu items to attract and serve a larger customer base. Today, sliders are still one of the most popular items at Munchies. The typical "M Slider" involves a single patty topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and Munchy sauce, while being sandwiched between two bread buns. Variations include sliders with two beef patties (the "Double M Slider"), three beef patties (the "Big M Slider), melted cheese (the "Cheese M Slider"), bacon toppings (the "Bacon M Slider"), or plant-based patties (the "Vegan M Slider"). Expanded main dish items also include wraps ("Wrap-Ms"), fish sandwiches ("Fish-Ms"), and chicken sandwiches ("Chick-Ms").

The original side was fried and salted hot chips, known as "Munchy Chips." Modern menus also offer potato crisps or salads. Munchies also offers fried chicken nuggets branded as "Munchers" or "Mini-Munchers." Drinks include soft drinks, shakes, and coffee. In addition to these standard menu items, Munchies also offers special menu items during certain times of the day including breakfast items like fried potato cakes or breakfast sandwiches and dessert items like cookies or small fried pies. Most food is prepared off-site at large industrial facilities located throughout Rizealand and then frozen or reduced to dry powder form before being shipped to stores that reheat or reconstitute the product for consumer consumption. This process was designed to make food preparation speedy and consistent from store to store.

Restaurants

Munchies has a total of 2,747 locations across all 11 states and territories of Rizealand. Munchies' locations are managed under a franchise-system where individual owners manage the day-to-day operations of a Munchies location while the menus, policies, and procedures are set by corporate management. Munchies locations typically offer counter service or drive through service and may or may not have a seating area for customers to eat. Larger standalone facilities will often have dining areas, counter service, and drive-through service, located throughout Rizealand in major cities, small towns, and along major highways or interstates. Many Munchies locations are also located inside malls, airports, railway stations, or larger stores and will typically only offer counter service and limited seating, if any at all. While locations may also stay open 24 hours a day, the individual franchise owners have final say over whether they will stay open unless they are in a high demand area, in which case corporate leadership can mandate 24 hour service.
