Namor-Vyvland relations

Template:Infobox Bilateral relations Namor-Vyvland relations, also called Namo-Vyvlander relations and Vio-Namorese relations, refers to the bilateral relationship between the People's Republic of Namor and Vyvland.

Historically, Namor and Vyvland shared thousands of years of diplomatic contact dating back to the first centuries of the common era. The southern part of Vyvland---particularly present-day Islands province---was inhabited by Kannei Namorese and Shanpein fishermen. Many Vyvlanders of Namorese ancestry can trace their roots back to these fishermen, as well as droves of Namorese who fled from mainland Namor to escape chaos during the Third Period of Anarchy. Small Vyvlander communities existed in present-day Shanpei for centuries.

Modern relations began in NMR 2290 (1950 CE), when North Vyvland recognized the newly-founded People's Republic of Namor. The Liberationist government, in turn, recognized North Vyvland as the sole legitimate government of all Vyvland, and refused to recognize South Vyvland, often calling it a collaborator state of East Luziyca, which Namor did not share friendly relations with, either. Namor condemned South Vyvland's expulsion of the local Swedish community; in turn, South Vyvland became one of the few states to recognize the independence of Oteki during its war of secession.

Relations between Namor and reunified Vyvland since 1983 (NMR 2323) remained cordial although sometimes strained, part of this having to do with Namor's disapproval of the presence of a Luziycan military base in Syfmion, which it believes post-reunification Vyvland has done nothing about. When Namorese planes attacked Syfmion in the Third Namo-Luziycan War, the action was met with Vyvlander as well as a prompt international outcry. Although Namor has expressed regret over the deaths of few Vyvlander citizens in its strike on Syfmion, to this day it still supports the dismantling of LAFB Syfmion, calling it a "breach on Vyvland's neutrality." Some Namorese officials accuse Vyvland of pursuing a policy of appeasement towards Luziyca, although no such statement has been made in a formal matter by current or past Namorese President-Generals.

Both Namor and Vyvland have pledged to improve mutual security in the Haddock Sea, and Namor has provided assistance to the Vyvlander government in arresting members of the True Vyvlanders organization, which both countries classify as a terrorist organization.

Namor, as a nearby and influential nation, has had a significant cultural impact on Vyvland for centuries. Namorese food is among the most popular foreign cuisines in Vyvland, with Namorese popular culture and music having made significant inroads into Vyvland, especially following Vyvlander reunification and Minjuha. The Namorese language was the second-most popular foreign language for Vyvlander students in 2011 and is the fourth-most spoken foreign language in Vyvland (after English, Nevan and Geadish), with roughly 15% of the population having at least intermediate proficiency.
