The Privy Council (PC), officially His Emperor's Most Honorable Privy Council, is a formal body of advisers to the sovereign of the Empire of Makko Oko. Its membership mainly comprises of the closest appointed persons of the Executive Cabinet, and some of the most senior members of the Imperial Family.

The Privy Council formally advises the sovereign on all matters relating to their duties and responsibilities, in addition to managing and keeping the Imperial Family intact. The authority that the Privy Council holds is unique from any other body of the government, and are the only body that can revise the Crown Act Of 2023, the legal instrument that established the council.

Functions

Membership

Composition

The Privy Council is made up of a minimum of 6 people (7 when an Imperial Consort exists) that are all appointed or mandated positions per statute. One of the people on the Council, as chosen by the Monarch, is the Privy Chancellor. The Privy Chancellor is considered to be the overseer or the Monarch's #2 on the Privy Council. The people always on the Privy Council are the Supreme Leader, two senior members of the Imperial Family, the Chief Inspector of the IEC, the Monarch, an impartial official from each of the administrative governments and the Imperial Consort (when one is in office). A person on the Privy Council is referred to as a Councilmember or Member.

Term Of Office

A term of office for a member of the Privy Council is 2 years, and it can be renewed indefinitely. The only exceptions are if the member is defined via statute, or if they're the Privy Chancellor. Privy Chancellors, regardless of appointment, have a term that can only end if they reach the age of 80, which is an age cap defined by statute and cannot be changed or overriden by the council. They can also die, retire or be removed by the Monarch before then. Any member defined by statute on the other hand, are appointed for life unless they lose their position/status, then their term will immediately expire.

Rights & Privileges

Members of the Privy Council have a say in the affairs of the Imperial Family and of the Imperial Crown as a whole. In addition, the Privy Council offers unsolicited advice to the reigning Monarch on daily affairs and responsibilities. There are little statutory responsibilities and powers that the Privy Council holds. For example, the reigning Monarch may enact laws without the advice or consent of the Privy Council and may carry out all of their duties as if the council didn't exist. The council was established to be an "advisory body" according to the Crown Act Of 2023 and has little authority in the government.

The Privy Council mainly has authority internally within the Imperial Crown and Family, where they can manage who is and isn't on the line of succession and even who is or isn't in the family. In addition, the council oversees abdication and ascension of the throne, and executes those provisions of the Crown Act Of 2023 solely. The Privy Council has no authority to enact orders expanding or modifying requirements to ascend to the throne.
