Salmo is a old federal realm and amongst the first of the realms colonized by Scanderans that were occupied and conquered after the unification of Scandera under Eröfrings eran and were is the home of a long history that followed it's reincorporation into Scanderan rule. Today is the realm not very populated and the most income comes from the national logging industy, fishing, iron and coal mining in the mountains inland and finally from the growing ship manufacturing industry in Arkheim and Dunvik.
Geography
The geography of Salmo is diverse for it's small size as the coastal regions consists of long beaches and flatlands that quickly gives way to hill lands and dark forests further inland and finally the mountainous terrain of "center bergen". Politically so are the realm dived further into three regions, each around one third of the realm in size and is ruled from the three mayor cities of Arkheim, Dunivk and insmun.
Climate
The climate of Salmo is dark and wet as it often experiences downfalls and despite the common winds that comes from the sea so are heavy mists common and the realm often experiences a downfall of 1,500 to 2,000 mm rain per year. Summers are often mild while the winters are cold and are followed by the wet and cloudy springs while the autumn is dark and cold. The temperature itself often warries between -10 degrees in January to 20 degrees in the summer.
Flora and fauna
Opposite of a few federal realms so are the bio diversity of Salmo not very big and the largest mammal living wild on the island is the local boar population while the largest predator is the fox. More so, so are the island also the home of rabbits, hares, mouses, rats and several other smaller species of mammals. There is also a large population of birds amongst which the native Salmo owl is one of the most well known.
When it comes to plant life however so is the island even more deprived of population as only grass, wildflowers and oak trees lives here natively while Scanderan pinetrees have moved over with Scanderan settlers even if the exact date is unknown.
History
The history of Salmo is a long and deep one only whispered about even in Scandera as the island is mentioned as the last large wharen bastion and old relieves from the Wharen empire shows wharen sailor communicating with horrid beasts from the sea and it were the home of one last Wharen city that were the last bastion before the city was attacked and it's citizens put to the sword. The island were even mentioned as haunted during stories and it has often been described as cursed or haunted by the holy chronicles as the mists and dark forests inland are the home of ruins older than even the Wharen ones that one can find and there is even the sunken ruins of a older Wharen city called "Rivas mirer" that one can see during sunny summer days off the coast of Dunsvik.
However as Scandera became more unified and wars ravaged between Imerians, Vedians and Erathians and as raids from Jarnarna raised in numbers so were peace supposedly common in the Salmo as the remaining documents and runestones were raised mentioned nothing of the conflicts in Scandera but instead are native gods commonly mentioned and human sacrifices are commonly depicted.
However the people were still Scanderan and a limited trade had happened between Scandera and Salmo had occurred which brought the attention of the Stjärnkhrone family after the unification of Scandera in 1534 and just as the united Jarlships in Sydvinland had been before so did Eröfringsmän sail out from Scandera.
However the campaign that followed is not very well documented as very few letters were sent back home and while war priests often frowned heavily on violence against natives so have what little have been gathered mentions that here were they actively preaching a eradication war and despite the furious demands of the king so were there no natives left and the commanders committed suicide before returning on the command of the high king.
The history continued as it had done before, the colonists withdrew to the colony from the rest of the federation and they were vary of outsiders. This continued until 1635 when to the surprise of the federation the sacking of Insmun occurred as the entire city was attacked by the natives and burnt. A demand for answers were sent out even if the few noblemen that were sent only explained the matter for the high king himself in private after which the issue were dropped by federal officials and the newly founded inquisition were moved over to the island where it have continued to operate to this day with great support of the colonials even if both are very quiet and withdrawn even to other parts of the inquisition and the rest of the federation.
