Tanner Laurence Kitagawa (23 June 2026) is a Lucian soldier and officer currently serving in the Lucis Army as part of Task Force 141 under Detachment K. He is the son of Yamato Kitagawa and Caroline Bessler.
Unlike his cousins, Tanner was raised with a passion for hunting. He was strictly raised by his parents as during that time, the Chalcedonic War was taking place. Despite his young age, he proved himself to be a superior tactician compared to his peers, including his cousins, because of his father's tutelage, who had both experience in the Lucis and Imperial Army. With such aggressiveness and strength for his body, he was notoriously nicknamed as the White Terror.

Tanner is known in his unit for being reserved. He often avoided class days and wanted to vomit on purpose while in class. Tanner is two of the most quiet person in Detachment K, along with his elder cousin, Archibald L.K. Kitagawa, whom he has a close bond with. Outside of his military life, Tanner is a very sweet person, and knits children's caps, which he learned from his 2nd great-grandaunt Tsukuyo Kushineda years before she passed. Unlike his father in his age, Tanner loved both his parents, as well as his grandfather. His grandmother, Aurelia Le Guin doted on him when he was young.
He met with Asagi Takara in 2049, a Nihhonese recruit who volunteered to be a part of a special forces unit and was assigned to Task Force 141. Tanner and Asagi would find their common love of children to be the start of their relationship. Tanner found Asagi's frank personality to be a bliss while Asagi found Tanner's sweet and strict personality to be cute. It wouldn't take long until Tanner and Asagi began dating. The two were married when the war ended. After the war, the two established an Kindergarten school within Fort Daidoji Kitagawa. They had 3 children together.
