The Northern Kin Forever | |
"The Northern Kin Forever" is an Erebonian and Rubrumian patriotic song written by Lambert Andrews during the First Europan War, when Erebonian troops in Western Erebonia amalgamated with Rubrumian troops to form the Erebonian and Rubrumian Army Corps. The hymn and tune were taken directly from the Rubrumian patriotic song The Maple Leaf Forever. The song has been most associated with the ERUAC spirit, larrikinism, ingenuity, and mateship.
History
It has been said by Andrews that his inspiration of creating the song was in tribute and in reference to Erebonians and Rubrumians choosing to fight alongside each other in the face of Imperial threats prior to the First Europan War. Whilst the Erebonian Empire was half-ready, Western Erebonia and its Rubrumian auxiliaries were ready in the event of an Imperial invasion. As a result, Andrews was inspired to create a hymn that unified and symbolised the tumultuous event as a call for Erebonians and Rubrumians in join in arms.
When the ERUAC was created in 1912, the hymn was first played during the inauguration of the army corps in Leeves. Initially consisting of Western Erebonians and Rubrumians, troops from mainland Erebonia soon joined the armed forces and the corps found itself crossing into the Erebonian mainland, fighting alongside with the Imperial Army of Erebonia when EWI broke out.
Many commanders had found inspiration within the song, establishing what the spirit of Erebonian and Rubrumian relations stood for. Many troops of both sides fought and fell alongside together in the trenches of EWI but in the process of preventing Imperial expansion into Zemuria throughout the war. The ERUAC spirit continued to foster even as the Lucian sovereignty of Western Erebonia had been relinquished and returned to the Erebonian government as ERUAC formations and units remained active in anticipation of another Imperial aggression that would take place 15 years after EWI had ended. This conflict would come to be known as the Second Europan War.
