Venus is a Malgravean idol group that was formed in 2020 and is currently under the management of Ascension Musical Productions. Venus is considered to be the first of a new generation of idol groups following on from the success of Eclipse.

Foundation

In 2020 Music Idol Camp started its 13th season, the show which put several aspiring performers (known as idols due to their musical and dance talents) against each other had proven successful in kick starting the career of several popular idols such as Rhee Chae-Yeong and Yukika Saito and were indirectly responsible for the establishment of Eclipse.

Despite this success, an idol idol group had never been directly formed by the competition, an omission which started to draw criticism from local netizens. In response Music Idol Camp announced that the 13th season of the show would focus around the formation of a new idol group, with the top four artists in the show winning places.

A number of fan groups formed around the 13th season of Music Idol Camp, with aggressive campaigns from netizens designed to support their favoured idol in the competition which often spilled into physical arguments and confrontations as the competition got closer to completion.

In the final episode Park Min-Ji, Moon Hye-Jin, Choi Iseul, Yun Chae-Won were announced as the top four contestants in the show and were promptly signed onto Ascension Musical Productions under the name, Venus.

2020 - Debut

Venus made their debut by appearing as a supporting artist for Yukika Saito during the Malgravean leg of her tour to promote her mini-album Tomorrow in which their vocal and dance harmony was noted by critics. Shortly after their debut performance Venus made a series of teaser videos on the MalTec Capybara network in which they hinted at the release of their first mini-album Summer Nights.

Summer Nights was positively received by the Malgravean public, and Venus performed on multiple music shows and toured local military bases as part of a campaign to get their music to the masses. At the end of 2020 Venus went on their own tour of Malgrave where they performed tracks from Summer Nights and introduced their second mini-album The Moment which was again received positively by local audiences.

In 2021 Venus were set to perform in Silverdale, however, the outbreak of conflict in both Malgrave and Silverdale resulted in this concert being put on hold, with a virtual concert being held instead.

Fandom

Fans of Venus are called Orbits, with the name being announced during a live video chat between Venus and fans in 2020. It is often joked that the original name of the Venus fandom was Venusites, as the announcement of the fandom name was moved back by two weeks after the name Venusite was mocked heavily by netizens.

Orbits are noted for their keen meme-making abilities, with numerous video edits of Venus filling social media platforms in Malgrave. MalMart and other companies have been noted as trying to appeal to Orbits as part of their marketing strategy, the most notable being a MalTra campaign which played on the similar appearance of Park Min-Ji and Amelia Ricci.
