Romaian entry/exit stamps

The visa policy of Romaia deals with the requirements which a foreign national wishing to enter Romaia must meet to obtain a visa, which is a permit to travel to, enter, and remain in the country. Visa exemptions are based on bilateral or multilateral agreements. Romaia has agreements with scores of countries whose citizens are exempt from visas. Citizens of countries without such an agreement with Romaia must obtain a visa in advance from a Romaian consulate or visa centre.

Foreign citizens, while in the territory of Romaia, must comply with the legislation of Romaia, including requirements of customs, border and immigration regimes, rules of travel finance, registration, internal movement within the territory of Romaia and extensions of stay. Nothing limits the right of competent authorities of Romaia to deny entry or to shorten the period of stay in the territory of Romaia for foreign citizens.

Nationals of 'Annex II' countries and territories (visa waiver countries)

Romaian authorities have issued a list of countries whose nationals need visas (Annex I) and a list of those who do not (Annex II).

Nationals of the following countries and territories holding ordinary passports may enter Romaia without a visa, for short stays (usually 90 days within a 180-day period):

90 days within 180-day period (Annex II)

Visa

Romaian touristic visa

The Romaian visa is a machine-readable document, which is placed in the holder's passport. All fields are indicated in both Greek and English, but are filled out only in Greek. The holder's name appears in both the Latin and Greek alphabets.

The name that appears in the machine-readable zone at the bottom of the visa represents the holder's name.

A photo is required in the visa application. The visa application form may be filled online and submitted to the diplomatic mission.

Depending on the purpose of entry into Romaia and the purposes of stay, visas are categorized as:

  • Business

Entry/Exit System

In 2019, Romaia adopted a regulation to establish an Entry/Exit System (EES) to record electronically the entry and exit of third-country nationals to and from Romaia in a central database. The goals are to increase automation of border control and to identify overstayers.

Romaia also plans to establish a Registered Traveller Programme that would allow pre-screened travellers easier access.
