Liberty and Justice (Caithian: Rhyddid a Chyfiawnder, Ghaillish: Saoirse agus Ceartas) is a liberal conservative political party that operates in County Caithia. It is branch of the Liberty Party and works with them at a national level. The party was founded in 1980 to contest Caithia's legislative elections. In 2019, the party split when three dissatisfied assemblymembers resigned from the party to form The Wave. It has one elected member of the Cynulliad and has representation in 7 of Caithia's 16 parishes. It is currently supporting the coalition government led by First Minister Aoife Nic Dhiarmaid.
Platform
The party maintains a liberal conservative platform. At times, it has been notably more conservative than the national party. It became more liberal in recent years. However, this trend was abruptly reversed when many in the party have adopted similar positions and rhetoric to Pádraig Mac Piarais, who leads the national party. This has resulted in a party schism, with 3 of the party's assemblymembers defecting in 2019. A number of local politicians have also left the party.
