Ekene is jumped by a group of bandits as he enters the city, fending them off and escaping to a rusty nearby hotel. Ekene stops for the night, where he looks at his map, which has a line from [[Shangea]] all the way to the [[Bahia|Bay of Bahia]], and crosses out the last stop in his destination, Omamiri. After doing this, Ekene hears the crackling of flames and he looks outside and sees a raging forest fire in the distance. Relieved to see that it is at a good distance away, he falls asleep. He is awoken when he hears his door creak open, and a man walks in. Ekene reacts and pushes the man against a wall, asking him who he is and why he came into the room. The man tells him his name is Bahar Karubi, and he came to find "the city". Ekene asks Bahar how he found out about this it, and Bahar tells him that he was once a soldier in what remains of [[Zorasan]], and protected one of the world's holiest cities. One day, he was out on patrol and was ambushed by bandits.
