Prince Roletus of Petra (Roletus Françouais Desiderius Hughes; b. 12 October 1997) is a member of the Sydalene Royal Family. He is the third child of Desiderius, Prince of Petra and Princess Eirene of Latium, and the younger brother of Queen Melisende III. He is 5th in line to the Sydalene throne.

Early life and education

Roletus was born on 12 October 1997, at 12:49 am at Castra Rubea, in Sydalon, as the third child of Desiderius, Prince of Petra and Princess Eirene of Latium. He was baptized in Kerkouane, as all Sydalene royal baptisms. His god parents are Princess Jordana, Duchess of Montjoie (his father's sister) and Robert de Hauteville, 22nd Duke of Montjoie (her husband). His name was not announced until three weeks after his birth, and became the first member of the Sydelene Royal Family to be named "Roletus".

Education

Roteus has not yet attended traditional schooling, with his youth education primarily handled by a series of private instructors and tutors. He has said he would like to attend university once he completes in mandatory military service in summer 2018. During his most recent break from service, he visited a series of Belisarian universities including Castellum College, Imperial University of Lyncanestria, and Imperial University at Saint-Nazaire. In April 2018, the Royal Household announced that Roletus would enroll at University of Arcadia, in Lihnidos, for the fall 2018 semester.

He began his education at the University of Arcadia in fall 2018, where he is studying economics.

Military service

Roletus joined the Sydalene Army in 2015 for his 36 month mandatory service. As of 2018, he earned the rank of Lieutenant, and serves as aide-de-camp to Queen Melisdende III at court in Ascalzar. He completed his mandatory service in July 2018, and remains a reserve member of the Sydalene Army.

Personal life

In June 2018, the Sydalene Royal Household and the Lihnidosi Imperial Family announced that Roletus was courting Efthymia, Crown Princess of Lihnidos. If married, Roletus would become the first foreign-born Lihnidosi consort in over 250 years.
