The 2023 Etrurian state elections are to be held on the 2 July 2023, to elect members to the state legislatures of six states. The election marks the first time state elections have been standardised in date and term duration, with the remaining nine states to hold elections in 2024. The states conducting elections on the 2 July are Andora, Carinthia, Carvana, Tarpeia, Tyrrenhia, and Veratia.

Background

In April 2022, the federal government proposed standardising the dates of state elections following a report by the Federal Electoral Commission, detailing the strains on its infrastructure, workers and logistics when holding successive state-level elections across a spring and summer in one year. This proposal found support among all political parties, who had complained of the need to prioritise funding and staffing for select state elections. The Tribune Movement, the SD and the Citizens' Alliance each proclaimed their support and formally requested legislation to mandate standardisation. On the 13 May, the Tribune government passed the State Elections Reform Law, with multi-partisan support. It passed the State Council of Etruria on the 20 May and was approved by the fifteen state legislatures throughout May and into June. This resulted in several states extending their parliamentary terms from four years to five years, however, due to the electoral calendar, only six of the fifteen states would be able to regulate their polls through state elections in 2023, with the remaining six penned to hold theirs in 2024.

Entering 2023, the political situation in Etruria had changed dramatically since the Reform Law passing the previous spring. Chiara Mastromarino had resigned as leader of the SD and was succeeded by the Prefect of State for Dinara, Giorgio Amadeo Biancofiore. The SD was also facing the rising challenge of the pro-EC liberal Etruria plus Euclea, while the Citizens' Alliance continued their steady decline from the height of the 2018 Etrurian federal election.
