Mission Thunder (5 June 1944) is the prelude to Operation Blunderbuss, the Allied Invasion of Bethausia. Along with Mission Noting, the nighttime paratroop drop was the precursor to the Allied invasion on the following day, with paratroopers landing behind enemy lines in order to cause havoc and reduce enemy resistance for the main invasion force. Mission Thunder was the designation for the nighttime raids in the Commonwealth sector.
