Moineau Airline Company, styled as Moineau, is a Midrasian low-cost carrier airline and subsidiary of MYD Air, headquartered at Lotrič International Airport. The company began as a low-cost alternative to the country's major competing airlines, until its purchase by MYD Air in 2006. The company offers domestic and international flights in over 800 routes in countries across Asura and the Aeian Community single market. The company is a major leader in Asuran markets with rising profits owing to the increasing demand for low-cost travel. Additionally, the service also offers a number of charter-flight services as part of package holiday services.

The airline was formed in 1987 by entrepreneur Fabien Gérald. The company initially operated with only three aircraft, which it rented out to holiday companies for use in package tour programmes. After several years of operation and a fleet expansion brought about through floating the company on the Midrasian stock exchange, Moineau soon established itself as an independent low-cost airline, focusing on destinations across Asura. In order to cut costs, the airline did not implement high-cost features such as a frequent flyer program, in-flight meals or executive suite. In addition, the airline mainly focused its efforts on smaller airports in the proximity of popular destinations in order to cut costs by not paying high landing fees associated with larger airports.

In 2004 Midrasian flag carrier airline MYD Air purchased 20% of Moineau's stock, stating its intention to eventually take on the airline as a subsidiary, allowing the company to gain a significant market share within Asura. By 2006 MYD Air had achieved a controlling stake in the company and elected to take Moineau off of the stock market by purchasing the remaining shares in the company. Under MYD Air, Moineau has expanded considerably, benefiting from the growth of low-cost travel and the establishment of the Aeian Single-market, significantly reducing barriers and costs associated with cross border air travel.

Moineau a321-200 takeoff from Berghelling

Accidents and Incidents

  • On March 4 1994 Moineau flight MN024 suffered a fuel tank rupture on a flight between Bordeiu and Perino. The fuel losses suffered by the flight due to the issue forced the plane to carry out an emergency landing at Aquidish air force base AR Biscegnano. Nobody was harmed in the incident. Investigations revealed poor aircraft servicing to be at fault, leading the Midraslian aviation authority to fine Moineau Đ2 million for the issue.
  • On June 12 2009 Moineau flight MN321 suffered damage to its undercarriage on the runway due to a collision with birds. As a result, the aircraft was stranded on the runway with the airport closing for 10 hours in order to deal with the issue.
