S5 Gaming, officially Samorspi 5 Gaming, is a professional esports team based in Samistopol, Soravia. It was one of two teams founded by a joint Samorspi endeavor to create professional level Avatar teams taken from the member countries in 2016, alongside its regional rival Team Ace. Overseen by a commission appointed by the Samorspi, it holds tryouts to draw the best players from the consituent countries in Samorspi, but in turn has high performance expectations. It has been a strong competitor in the Avatar gaming world, having Avatar World Championships every year since their founding, qualified for the final eight five times, and winning second place in the 2018 championships. It will be participating in the 2021 Avatar World Championship.
Since its formation in 2016, S5 gaming has done consistently well in regional tournaments, and has made the Avatar World Championships every year since its formation, alongside its rival Team Ace. It has jostled with Team Ace for top position in West Eulcea since its founding, making them into rivals; it won the West Euclean regional championships in 2016, and 2018, 2019, and came as runners up in 2017, 2020, and 2021. It has been a consistently well-preforming team at the International level, qualifying for the final eight five times- in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, finishing in fifth in 2016, seventh in 2017, second place in 2018, and fourth in 2019. Despite its early successes, the team suffered during the 2020 season, and did not make it into the final qualifying eight. To make matters worse, in 2020 the team landed in trouble when one of its players, the West Miersan Janusz Rumiński, was caught in an international tournament using racial slurs against Lemovicians, resulting in Janusz being fined. S5 has a fanbase spread throughout the Samorspi countries, but is currently more popular in Vedmed, West Miersa and Kantemosha for having representatives of those countries over the other team which doesn't. It also has a reliable fanbase in Tengaria, with Lenov being one of the original teammates and a popular figure in the esporting community.
