The Sciedfelt Stretch, also nicknamed The Dependency Test[1], was the seven year stretch after Frarstizk's Independence which did not host any definitive major league for football in Hiblund. Before the independence, Hiblund's major league was the Harletical Fiutvel Iede, which, even if Hiblund stayed together, would fold due to a collapsing budget in 1950. This would be cut short with the founding of Frarstizk in 1946, and would lead to seven years without another major league. This would end in 1953, as the Shodiax League System would form and claim the title.

Cause

Before Independence

The Harletical Iede itself was more than a disaster than what you would find on the surface level. Its primary fault was the non-inclusion of promotion and relegation, but it could be led much deeper than that. The system offered little to no help to financially struggling teams, and once some clubs were hurt so much that they were forced to fold or join a different league, many protested against it and tried to bring up alternate league systems. The most notable of which was the Aulibech Fiutvel Retlevatschi Iede Zyntri, which died down after clubs from the Harletical System were secretly not permitted to move to the new system, trying to make it come off as that their clubs had free choice but chose to stay with the Harletical.

Although the so-called protests were regulated to the fact that Harletical would still have ownership as the major league, it would not stop the league from falling into huge debts. In 1944, it was privately announced to the executives that the league would fold in 1950 for budget problems, and if popularity did not pick up quickly for them, their system would fold beneath itself. This was closely held back from outsiders, and very little rumors followed.

During the offseason of 1945, major events took place on the federal level. The rising of the "H" religion was rapidly taking public matters into their own hands, trying to take hold of all language control. To wrap it up, no one liked the changes they proposed, but the west was capable of the change, meanwhile the east was not. The government caved into the idea, which sent an uproar in the east, which would (most of the time) peacefully protest to keep the change from being implemented to them.

As the civil dispute raged on, the Harletical was secretly hoping that an independence would take place so that it would detract from their budget issues when explaining the reason for their folding. In the 1946 offseason, they got their wish, as the Hiblundiiun government granted the east independence, which is now known as Frarstizk. A day later, the Harletical executive Hervtil Sciedfelt had announced folding on behalf of the league, and predictably blamed it on the national event rather than their own flaws, and hence, the name of the event.

After Independence

Unlike Frarstizk's simple way of creating a new league for all to enjoy, Hiblund did not gain the same success. Due to Hiblund's greater overall interest in football, there were a more diverse range of opinions in how the new system should be formatted. These changes ranged from promotion and relegation to how kits should be regulated, and perfect agreement on all topics were hard to come by. These debates were more than common, being discussed pretty much anytime possible within the first year of Sciedfelt Stretch. In contrast to those who truly cared about the format, there were those who couldn't care the least and just wanted to see football being played no matter what it was like.

Harletical Teams' Alliance

Immediately after the whole phenomenon took place, many of the former clubs of the Harletical made a sort-of deal claiming that, with all the different leagues being founded, they would all join one league together with every member of the alliance having a fair say in the decision. This alliance made it so that the members could not leave and go to a league without the other members having made a decision yet. However, if a decision which obtained a 3/4 vote was made, a club could refuse to join that league and stay stranded.

The initial idea was proposed by executives of the club Tintianto SC, whose main intent was to keep whichever league they all end up going to, the major football league and to keep that undisputed. All of the other clubs in the major Harletical followed suite, with the exception of VfL Pavre, of which chose to find their own route and take home in the Norsterlampv Fiutvel Iede because of the doubt in even surviving without pay. The alliance claimed to distribute their pay to the struggling of the participants, but VfL Pavre still chose otherwise because they felt the Norsterlampv was already the best choice as well. Although the original invitations to the alliance were to the clubs of the major league, quite a few former minor Harletical clubs unofficially joined the alliance, which were not paid to survive by the original members, but the survivors managed to gain pay elsewhere.

Shaping of New Leagues

Very shortly after the independence and Harletical folding were announced, relatively rich investors took their shots at creating the new league. Some were quick to action and neglected the Harletical Alliance completely, meanwhile others contemplated what exactly the Harletical clubs might want in a league. The foremost of which usually weren't interested in actually gaining approval of the Harletical and simply wanted to take advantage of the now free market, which was approached less by investors and more by just the rich who wanted control. The latter took anywhere from a month to several years to make up their mind on how they think the Harletical clubs would like their system, as there were so many factors the teams in the alliance weren't even aware of that could be a lock for their approval.

The two most successful leagues were the Fiutvel Xaire Iede uv Hivlunt and the Indoliiov Iede, for two different reasons. The Xaire was all about advertising and raising up the club's performance potential more than anything, which came hand in hand with their opinion on promotion and relegation. The league itself was founded in 1949 and contained 25 clubs from various minor leagues of the Harletical, and 35 completely new clubs that consisted of many rookie potentials. The Xaire was exclusive to new clubs, however, and did not even plan on featuring any play-in system, as well as a very unstable approach on salary cap, which didn't really exist. These two factors alone were enough to have the Harletical Alliance pass on it, even though the Xaire, for as short of a time period as it was, the indifinitive major football league of Hiblund while it existed.

The Indoliiov, on the other hand, was a bit too inclusive to new and unfunded teams. This league was founded in 1948 and was formed by a rich Hiblundiiun citizen, trying to appeal to the less committed than to break the record barriers of the sport. Along with this mindset, the average league of his system would only keep about half its competitors the next season, as the other half would either promote or relegate. Although these mentality of appealing to the average team gave it a pretty good local reputation, very few clubs actually did well in the system. In a similar light, very few former Harletical clubs would be allowed into this league, as the founder, Cleizch Ferbiltix, took a very independent route. This league was passed out of contention by the Harletical Alliance for obvious reasons.

Shodiax League

In 1952, Ben Shodiax decided to offer his own league idea to the table, one with perfectly ideal financial ideas, a significant budget, and a very democratic relationship with the clubs. This peaked the interest of the Harletical clubs, and after careful inspection of rules and regulations, the alliance had chose this league to be the one they would sign to. The club leaders met with Ben himself, and offered a few minor changes in order to improve the system, and he was on board with all of them. The alliance would sign their clubs in with the league, and it was soon after deemed the major football league of Hiblund, all without a single match being played yet. After a few seasons in, the clubs vowed to stick with the Shodiax League System, and the Sciedfelt Stretch was over.

Effects

The Sciedfelt Stretch proved disasterous among both the sporting district and, in a few ways, the entire nation.

The most notable of which would be the drasticly low interest of the sport in new players, as they no longer had anyone to look up to in their nation. Almost all recruiters were for teams that would never make it to the future Shodiax League, and for players that already belonged to a Harletical club, they were out of a job, many times permanently and with little pay before getting released. This did not in any way help the industry, as football was a huge portion of the economy. However, this part was barely noted as the economy was already in shambles after Frarstizk's Independence.

On the other side, before the Sciedfelt Stretch, football was the only real notable sport in Hiblund. This made other sports more influencial, the most notable change being for ice hockey and basketball, which quickly created a new major league without protest from teams. Unfortunately, the influence ceased increasing after it was over, putting their leagues in quite a prediciment after they had overexpanded.

Along with the low interest of young players, overall fitness had decreased without, as mentioned, a goal to reach. Although thinking might provoke the opposite, without very many people huddled around the TV watching the game, this was still the case, as they found alternative sports or just lower-class leagues.

Clubs Folded

As another effect of the event, clubs had also taken a hit, some just losing players, but others much more with folding entirely. The following are folded Hibluniiun clubs from the top two levels of the Harletical.

Level 1 Harletical-

  • VfL Pavre

Level 2 Harletical-

  • PFC Lardes
  • Navfelc SV
  • 1.SC Ihalda
  • Kaelhister FC
  • IF Haulesci-Meritaariahk
  • Xoniij Porlaik

Shodiax 1962 Expansion

After not even a decade after the infamous Shodiax League was founded, the system planned to take over struggling leagues that once thrived during the Sciedfelt Stretch. Although the concept from a glance sounded menacing by the system, the truth was with the intent of saving struggling leagues from bankrupcy because of the Shodiax's success. The 1962 expansion from the Shodiax League planned to buy off as many as 10 leagues, and not to use the leagues, but to instead just pay it off and even rescue some of the better clubs. Only 4 had accepted, those being the Xaire, Indoliiov, Norsterlampv, and Cistruine, and 10 were saved from Xaire, 8 from Indoliiov, and 4 from Norsterlampv and Cistruine. The clubs which transferred were given new names, starting with their city name and followed with either XCT, ICT, NCT, or CCT depending on which league they came from.

This action by the Shodiax League had officially put an end to the Sciedfelt Stretch and many of its effects, and has led to the rescue of beloved teams such as Vovilveante XCT and Trinalxii XCT.
