Rothera, officially the Rothera Federal District, is the most populous city and the largest economic center in Antarctic Circle States and Frigo. Located on A.C.S.'s west coast, Rothera is made up of over 300 suburbs, spread across 21 local government areas. Residents of the city are known as "Rotherans". As of June 2022, Rothera's estimated metropolitan population was 2,381,000, meaning the city is home to approximately 21.5% of the nation's population. Nicknames of the city include the 'Southern Harbor' and the 'Frozen City'.

Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world, Rothera frequently ranks in the top ten most innovative cities in the world. It is classified as an Alpha global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, indicating its influence in the region and throughout the world. Ranked xx in the world for economic opportunity, Rothera has an advanced market economy with strengths in information technology, manufacturing and tourism. Additionally, the city is famous for its world class research universities, including the Amundsen University and the University of Rothera, which is credited with developing the first operational nuclear reactor in the Southern Hemisphere.
