The Federation of Elastan, commonly known as Elastan or इलास्टन, is a landlocked country in Central Ausiana, bordered by Haduastan, Joraistan, and Hasaari to the north, Atylestan, Kylastan and Jaginistan to the west, and Hordestan to the south. Elastan has a diverse geography, including fertile plains, subalpine forested hills, and several of the world's tallest mountains. Elastan is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural state, with Elasti as the official language. Eritba is the nation's capital and Sarposhan is the largest city. It has a population of 79,422,000, making it the 6th-most populous nation in Ausiana.
The name "Elastan" is first recorded in texts from the Bedic period of the Hadua subcontinent, the era in ancient Elastan when Hinduism was founded, the originally predominant religion of the country. In the middle of the first millennium BC, Buddhism emerged in northern Elastan. Parts of northern Elastan were intertwined with the culture of Nidayar, a state since occupied by Haduastan. The centrally located Nidayar Valley is intertwined with the culture of Haduaelas, and was the seat of the prosperous Eewar confederacy known as Elasti Kandala. The ancient trade routes were dominated by the valley's traders, and the cosmopolitan region developed distinct traditional art and architecture. By the 18th century, the Krkha Kingdom achieved the unification of Elastan. The Prhah dynasty established the Kingdom of Elastan and later formed an alliance with the Rumaztria Empire. The country was never colonized but served as a buffer state between Imperial Rumaztria and the Beleroskovian and Yuaneze kingdoms. Parliamentary democracy was introduced in 1951 but was twice suspended by Elastani monarchs, in 1960 and 1988. The Elastan Civil War in the 1980s resulted in the establishment of a secular republic in 1989, ending the monarchy. However, Bahadar Panwar suspended elections after a contentious and disputed 2010 referendum, consolidating power with political allies.
The Constitution of Elastan, adopted in 1989, affirms the country as a secular federal parliamentary republic divided into seven provinces. Despite tense relations with nations like Zamastan, Vulkaria, and others for involvement of Elastani conscripts and training of the LFM in the 1999-2005 War in Vulkaria, Elastan was admitted to the Coalition of Crown Albatross in 2013, and friendship treaties were signed with ACWAC in 2014 and Yuan in 2016. However, tense relations with neighboring Haduastan over the status of Nidayar led to the Elastani-led invasion in 2023, which was widely condemned internationally and led to widespread pro-democracy demonstrations. The Elastan Armed Forces are the fifth-largest in Ausiana.
