List of Political Parties in Alaoyi

Alaoyi has had a multiparty system on the legislative level since the electoral system was reformed in 1996. The reforms, implementing a two-round system for presidential elections, mixed-member proportional voting for the Senate, and reforming the National Council led to the two-party system, dominated by the Socialists and National Populists, effectively dissolving. Since 1996 the number of parties have grown.

As of 2023, 14 total parties are represented in the Senate, 10 parties represented are represented on the National Council, and 10 parties are represented in the executive branch of a federal entity. Any party meeting at least one of those three requirements is considered a nationally recognized party, of which there are currently 16.

Currently, the largest overall alliance is the Democratic Alliance, which consists of four parties, and is considered the dominant center-right bloc in Alaoyi. The second largest bloc and largest singular party is the Socialist Party, which is also considered the dominant center-left bloc. Other parties include the National Populists, a right-wing populist party, and the Republicans, a left-wing socialist party. The centrist Farmer's Alliance is an alliance of centrist parties that originally began as representing the interests of the agricultural sector, but have attracted centrist voters due to moderate views on both free trade and social issues. In addition to the normal political groups, the extremist parties, including the far-left Alliance for Freedom and far-right Ndibeanyan Solidarity Group are considered to be racist parties, and thus have a cordon sanitaire against them. Not all parties run for similar elections. For instance, the parties in the Farmer's Alliance only contest senatorial elections.
