The Nikolian Armed Forces (Serbian: Oružane snage Nikolije, Mazurian: Siły Zbrojne Nikolii) are principal military forces of Nikolia responsible for its defense and promotion of wider Nikolian interests, support international peacekeeping efforts and providing humanitarian aid in crises.
Since its formal creation as the national military force, the Nikolian Armed Forces have been involved in most of the regional and world conflicts of the great powers in Astyria, such as the Bernadottic Wars, Great Astyrian War, as well as internal conflicts, most notably the Srebrogora conflict.
The Nikolian Armed Forces are organised in five branches; the Royal Army, Nikolia's land warfare branch; the Royal Navy, a bluewater navy with a fleet of 85 commissioned vessels; the Royal Air Force with a substantial fleet of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft; the Special Forces Command, which brings together multitasked specially trained and highly specialised units under one command, and the Homeland Guard, a military auxiliary force tasked with territorial defence of Nikolia.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Nikolian Armed Forces is the sovereign of Nikolia, currently King Aleksandar II to whom members of the forces swear allegiance to. Management of the armed forces is responsibility of the National Defence Council, a supreme governing body of the Armed Forces consisting of political and military members charged with formulating and executing defence policy for the armed forces.
Nikolia is a recognised nuclear power, a member of the E10 Council of Nations and the EATC and cooperates tightly with the Lorecian Community in regards to defence and security.
