The 2024 International cup was an association football tournament in Levilion. It was the 36th edition of the International Cup tournament, taking place at several venues across Barcia. The tournament was contested by 16 national teams, with group stages proceeding to the quarter-final knockout stage.[1]
The tournament was won by Audonia who lifted their 3rd International cup title after defeated hosts Barcia in the final on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Third-place in the tournament was claimed by Amarata who served the surprise performance, largely thanks to their star-striker Arturo Puli who was player of the tournament. Fourth place was claimed by Rythene.
Bidding for the 2024 tournament was opened in 2020. The organising body of the International Cup indicated a preference for bids from outside of Marceaunia and Surucia following the awarding of Shang Fa 2020 and Audonia 2022. Barcia announced its candidacy early on in the running in March, having previously hosted the tournament in 1968. In May the Barcian bid was joined by bids from Blayk, Sulatia and Amarata. The Barcian bid proved the early favourite and enjoyed the backing of many of the national associations from within the Occidental Confederation and Marceaunia. The Sulatian bid would be very quickly eliminated within the first round of voting having only secured 2 votes, both of which went to Barcia in the second round, securing an overall majority.
The tournament will be played in 8 venues across 7 cities within Barcia, with 2 stadia located in the capital of Tradare. Three of the stadia used for the tournament were entirely new constructions, these being the Stadio Osiride (which replaced the existing Stadio Atletica), Nuovo Parco and the Stadio di Zela. The other five stadiums received extensive upgrades in preparation for the tournament including new hospitality facilities and temporary seating to be removed at the tournament's conclusion.
Per statistical convention in football, matches decided in extra time are counted as wins and losses, while matches decided by penalty shoot-out are counted as draws.
