Ferrier System

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Ferrier System is a Riamese economic theory first described by Alexander Ferrier. The theory, widely used in Urban Transit in Riamo defends a business model by which an urban developer purchases low-value Greenfield land property to later develop infraestructure and transportation around it, increasing its value exponentially to then lease it to other companies.

Urban developments may come in the way of Transit-Oriented communities with good public transportation links to the city, usually consisting of a small recreational area or cultural center engulfed in a very dense residential area, minimizing land area used and walking distance to transit links while providing very efficienct connections to the wider urban area.

The system has been questioned for having originated a transit-dependent culture and generalized housing crisis in many Riamese urban areas. It has also been cited to be a large factor contributing to the development of certain areas of urban cores over others through a marginalization process.
