Operation Agrianes, also known as the Africanna Lunar New Year Offensive was a major escalation and one of the largest and most important battles during the Seleucid Uprising. The battle took place in different parts of South Africanna, notably in the regions around the Magnolia Administrative Capital Region. It was launched on 30 January 1949 by the Allied forces led by the United Kingdom and Quenmin against the Deseleni Empire and its satellite and puppet governments. It was a campaign of surprise attacks against the Imperial military command and control centers in the Transvaal region. The purpose for such a grandiose operation was to trigger Anti-Selucid fervour amongst natives residing in Selucid-occupied regions.

The offensive was launched in the early hours of 31 January. The attack took Selucid forces by surprise. The fighting spread throughout several cities in Northern and Central Rhodeia, including the capital, Magnolia. By 3am, the main operation began with the offensive reaching out to the borders of Rhodeia in the United Republic of Africanna and in Archadian Arithea. Around 80,000 irregulars and special forces units raided and attacked more than 100 towns and cities, including 72 provincial capitals, 16 autonomous cities, 241 districts, and the Rhodeian Capital.

Although the Selucids were able to regroup, the intensified attacks and raids on Selucid battlegroups and bases proved to be a huge setback, something which Lucian Field Marshal Archibald Sugiyama and Quenminese Marshal Kiều Hữu Dương intended on doing. The multiple raids caused General Alexandros Chordolis to split his forces in an attempt to quell the attacks. The split became large enough for Sugiyama to launch the 2nd Phase of the operation, which was the main Allied thrust towards Chordolis' lines. This alone was enough for Sugiyama to encircle Magnolia and besiege it. While Sugiyama focused on preventing Chordolis' forces from reinforcing Magnolia, Marshal Duong intensified raids to bog down Chordolis' forces in the URA, Southern Arithea, and Northern Rhodeia.

The operation became a strategic and political victory for the Allies. Historians and analysts have concluded that the combination of Sugiyama's new aggressive defensive strategy and Duong's waging of an aggressive continuous war of attrition managed to bog down the Selucid War Machine in Africanna, something which the Selucids were unable to recover from. Both men also capitalised on the racial persecution conducted by the Deseleni's towards the Africanna populace regardless of ethnicity. The Allied victory over the Deseleni forces spread anti-Selucid and rebellious fervour throughout Africanna.
